On August 11th 2011, the first 'official' album for the project johnny_ripper was released online, titled 'soundtrack for a film that doesn't exist'. A concept & sound that lasted 6 years, 6 albums, 3 remix compilations & a collaborative EP; before the name was eventually changed to 'Joni Void' in 2017.

Retrospective is a compilation of 19 songs / selection of early material from johnny_ripper, with fresh remasters from Amar Lal, focusing particularly on original compositions / the 'soundtrack piano' material of the first albums, creating what is essentially the most 'personal' album to date in that sense. This is the first time a johnny_ripper release is pressed on a physical format.

Oh, that is me in the picture. I was about 4/5 years old. I had an imaginary friend, my ride-on toy Thomas The Tank Engine. I was strongly convinced that it was alive. I used to take him everywhere with me, even set up a place for him at the table on a few occasions, try to feed him, give him something to drink. I still have a few clear memories of this. 
Please don't forget who you were as a child.
