IV. Spoken – Trumpet, Keys, Gongs & Birds

So, after playing a couple of DJ sets at Tunelis, Vilnius, for a charity event organised by Stefchik in Ukraine, I decided to go down to Lviv with Nadiya Opryshko  (other DJ) and Elena Shcheglova in order to bring the cash personally to my old mate, and see him after more than a year of distance, and for him: "wartime". After 24h of bus, van, walking around, and waiting, I finally arrived at the border, only to realize I only had my ID, so I got refused.
We then decided to go back to brussels with Nadiia and to roadtrip on the way.
And during the 2 days we were in Belgium, planning the way back to the border near Lviv, I found the time to remix an old Ukrainian song (Nich Yaka Misyachna [Ніч яка місячна] (vocals by Dmytro Gnatuk version and other samples are from an instrumental version)) to give as a special present to Stefko, and to challenge myself a bit with production.

It was super short on time so it's unfortunately unfinished, but that's the solid part I was able to make.

1984 was my very first year going to the South Bronx and to say I was completely blown away is old news, but the thing about New York at that time is that there 
was a vibe, a feeling, and an ever present hum of activity and excitement, this is what made me drive 17 hours straight from Minnesota to New York so often. To me the 
most incredible part of the Boogie Down Bronx, was the soundtrack of new sounds that permeated the streets and gave life and sonic vibration. One of those songs was the 1983-84 summer hit
Get Tough by the CDIII and to this day remains in my top 10 of all time favorite songs, and it is on the famed Prelude New York Disco label run by Marvin Schlacter, It was his son who ran the 
Techno label Adrenalin that was responsible for my very first Techno full length album in 1992 D.W.F.S. - Higher Consciousness, but that is another story..
Here is a 40th year comparative remix of this incredible track that changed my life and haunts me to this day.. Sure wish I had had the masters as I could have done the remix more justice.
