Originally released in 1981 and featuring the stunning vocals of Barbara Roy, 'If You Want Me' suffered from the backlash of the 'Disco Sucks' movement in the USA. As a result a track, which would have certainly made top 10 at the time of 'Saturday Night Fever' two years earlier was never fully appreciated by a wider audience.

For all lovers of disco house, Jonnie Polyester presents his
updated and re - arranged mix of a lost classic along with a club remix from Mark Knight (K&M)

'If You Want Me' has received big support from funky house jocks such as Danny Rampling (BBC Radio 1, 18th March Hotmix), Alistair Whitehead (Capital FM) and Graeme Park (Galaxy102 FM) along with Joey Negro, the Sharp Boys and 
Boy George.

Jonnie Polyester pts Polyester Mix 2015 Vol 2

Jonnie Polyester is probably best known for his funky disco cut-ups and remixes on his Blackbooty Label. He has been involved in dance music for nearly 2 decades which began in Summer 1991, promoting a rave on his family's land in Warwickshire..XX1 ( it was for his Sister's 21st Birthday!) which saw performances from Eclipse DJ's Nipper & Ratty. After a stint doing sound and lights at the Arena in Middlesbrough whilst at college, where he got to meet many of the world's seminal dance acts and djs, he went on to co-promote Relish at the Music Factory, Leeds home to the legendary Back to Basics from 1993-1995. &#13;

His music career got going in earnest with his Disco Connection compilation series, which he put together whilst working for Distance Records; the French label that gave us K.O.T's - Finally. Released in Spring 1998, the series aimed to capture the exciting vibe of quality disco house, which brands such as Hed Kandi were to develop into such commercial success. He recruited the Daddy of Disco-House himself Dave Lee (A.K.A Joey Negro, Jakatta, Raven Maize, Doug Willis etc) to mix the compilation. There then followed a UK and European club Tour which included a successful launch party at the Notting Hill Arts Club, London & Disco Connection nights at Burning (Queen, Paris,) Miss Moneypenny’s,(B’ham) Burger Queen,(Edinburgh) Debbie Does Dallas, (The Cross, London) as well as dates in Hamburg, Barcelona, Milan and Marseilles. Tour guests included Joey Negro, Andrew ‘Doc’ Livingstone, Huggy & Craig Burgerqueen, and Mr Pink.&#13;

After leaving Distance, Jonnie joined Tribal Gathering in 1999 and with owner David Vincent, re-opened the legendary Sankey Soap in Manchester in September 2000. Jonnie became the funky room resident for Golden during its time at Sankeys. Back in London, Jonnie was running his own night Plato’s Retreat at various venues in West London & then started Daiquiri Disco with Nick House, now one of London’s biggest club promoters. &#13;

Since 2002, Jonnie has been running his own label Blackbooty Records, which kicked off with his debut production ‘If U Want Me'. This track set the standard for things to come. Danny Rampling played it on his Radio 1 ‘Lovegroove Dance Party’ show, as did the Sharp Boys (Kiss FM) and perhaps Jonnie’s greatest fan Graeme Park (Galaxy FM) who to date, has played every single one of Jonnie’s productions on his various radio shows. Dubbed by I-Dj magazine’s Matt Anniss as House Music’s re –edit king, Jonnie’s productions always capture the best of classic disco cuts.&#13;

Through out his production career Jonnie has worked with Kevin 'K-Boy' Brooks, who had formerly engineered for Joey Negro as well as co-producing with Mark Knight as K&M and one third of the Kidstuff production team. Kev's production and studio skills have graced many a hit record from the Z Records stable. Together Jonnie and Kevin co-produced a re -working Double Exposure's 10% which followed their debut track ‘I’m Here Again’; a disco tour de force featuring the vocals of the grand dame of disco herself Thelma Houston. An absolutely guaranteed floor filler, it was tipped by I-DJ as one of the hot tunes for Miami and was aired on The Dreem Teem’s Soulful Sessions show on Radio 1(Sat 5th March 05), as well numerous plays Galaxy FM, Vibe FM, Nova FM (Ireland), Beat 106, Key 102 and radio shows throughout Europe. More recently Jonnie & Kev released an updated reworking of Dennis Parker's classic 'Like An Eagle' which was featured as Hed Kandi FM track of the week in Nov 08. 

Blackbooty continues to release quality disco-house as well as more eclectic material under the moniker Floor Faction
