A rough demo of Astral Projection - an instrumental progressive rock track that'll take you on a trip. 

This song pretty much wrote itself over the course of a couple of days. It's a trip and I really enjoy it.

Things that I plan on fixing up for the "proper" release:

- Record new drums. Currently programmed midi and very weak (I aint no drummer)
- Have some female vocals / choir in the song
- Mixing / mastering 

Note:

- This is version 2 of the demo which includes the samples
- Everything you're listening to was recorded via Garageband for Mac
- I used my favourite amp plugins -AmpKnob RevC + BDH III (Essentially a 5150 Iconic)

This song is based on the book "The Adam & Eve Story". It's a cool concept and pretty shit if it's true (if you know you know).

The song gives off a brooding, hopeless, and melancholy vibe until everything opens up into a somewhat hopeful ending with heaps of power.

The writing process:

This song, similar to Astral Projection was written and recorded in one session (5 or 6 hours). Not much "left-brain" analytical thinking went into the song itself, and I didn't spend too long on decisions. 

Update: Demo v3 - 6/12/23

- Re-recorded intro melody and changed the intro (diminished run, sounds cool)
- Improved drums and balances of guitars

Update: Demo v2 - 5/12/23

- Added AI voice over samples using passages from the book
- Added additional synths and textures
- Removed annoying buzz synth thingy at end of song

I'm Jonno. I'm a guitarist and now - a songwriter - from Perth, Western Australia. I'm currently releasing a bunch of solo stuff under "The Jonno Gilbert Experience" which essentially combines prog rock, metal, atmospheric, curated samples, stoner rock vibes and storytelling elements that might make you feel something cool.

Think Devin Townsend, Porcupine Tree, Ghost, Metallica, Tool, Lofi, game and movie soundtracks combined with tales, myths, legends, and conspiracies from the greats, combined with my own life experiences all crammed into sonic vibrations.

You won't just see the final, polished product either. I'll release demos, phone memos, whatever - Along with the actual end result so you can take part in this musical journey with me.
