3 is a magic number

I wrote ‘The Life that Never Was’ about how uncertain Life is, and we must enjoy every minute of it. ’White Lies’ is about Death, how we know very little about what happens when we pass and we again should just cherish every second we have while we are here.

Jonny embodied every part of the sentiment behind both of these songs, he knew how to have a good time and he always did, he truly lived for today. I didn’t have a ‘Plan B’ for anyone else to sing them if he couldn’t, because they were written for him to sing! Like Jonny, we loved David Bowie, & both having overdosed on ‘Blackstar’ when writing this album, he knew exactly what I wanted on them. Never did I think like ‘Blackstar’, it would all be too real for the connection between the last songs released for them both.

The Easy Orchestra taught me so much about music, what made a song great, what not to play & it’s all about serving the song. I tried to write music with all that in mind from then on. To share all that time with Jonny & Iain, I was sharing music and time with two of the best musicians and friends I could ever dream of. Bringing them back to record on these tracks was a dream come true. I learned so much from them both and love them as brothers. I will be always grateful to
been able to make music with them both & of course privileged to accompany Jonny’s amazing voice & watch him do his thing for so long.

Jonny Logue was an incredibly talented and charismatic musician. He loved to collaborate and anyone who got the chance to work with him soon realised how passionate and energetic he was about his music.
