Really like the interludes Meshuggah writes. They are a huge influence on the music I write, so I thought I would make another tribute to one of my favorite records of all time. I heard this section of CEV in my head as a piano so I thought I would give it a go.

No Man Needs Nothing

Had this little idea, played out the initial idea to completion. Think it sounds cool and neat. The root descends and passes many octaves within the chord until resolving peacefully. I don't think this would work on an instrument with higher tunings. Lower frequency in the bass allows the close grouping of the notes to meld well. Tried to spic up the tone with some effects, used a grain delay, but in the end the EQ'd DI tone from the Darkglass A/O just sounded way too good to mess with. This is not JUST dry tone, of course I have reverb, chorus, delay (and grain delay), and a dirty tone mixed with this, hardly decipherable mixed together but add to the overall vibe.

Descending Purpose

Made this and realized it reminded me of Ace Combat menu/post mission debriefing music.

Using GetGoodDrums Matt Halpern PV kit, Ibanez EHB1005MS (seafoam) through my Darkglass Alpha/Omega 900 head (post DI tone) into my Scarlett 8i6 3rd Gen.

In Comes The Morning (Iscah Demo 2024)

I was listening to the newer songs from Last Chance to Reason, and thought, "I can write a creepy heavy verse riff like that". It did not come out the way I anticipated, but had its own flavor so I rolled with it.

Originally I was not going to add vocals to it at all, however, I was inspired after a phone call with one of my close friends regarding one of our mutual friend's destructive behavior. This is very likely to become part of Iscah's next project, Instructions Unclear.

Lyrical inspiration is based on a flame burning too fast, too bright. An Icarus flying too close to the sun too soon. A man at wits end, burning the candle at both ends.

Duly Noted (Iscah Demo 2024)

This started as a piano melody for a hip-hop song I was working on. I had a shower-thought of this bass line which matched the key of the pressure in my showerhead. It was this bouncing bass and rolling bass groove, and immediately I realized the shower head bass groove and the hip-hop track I started months ago were in the same key.

Hemlock Groove

This has a hardrock feel to it for sure. Like many moments as a musician, you hear ideas right before waking but say to yourself "I will definitely remember this...." and then ultimately can never recover that brilliant idea. I had the fortune of hearing a vocal hook, which underneath that was the musical arrangement I tracked here. I thought it was too tame and wanted to make it a bit ugly and added the outro. I revisited this track 3 times on the morning of my mind's ear hearing the hook (intro). Gives me 32 Leaves vibes at the start.

Viral Signs

The bush sucks, but I love it (pyracantha/fire thorn). It hurts too. GDGDFAD on the Schecter. Smiling Friends for the sample.

I wanted to try an alternate tuning to see if I would be inspired to write. I accidentally snapped my E string on my Schecter, which has tuning locks, when downtuing. This forced an emergency run to Guitar Center, where I was also forced to buy strings I normally wouldn't. I am probably more brand-loyal than I would like to admit but picked up a set of Ernie Ball Slinky 10-62 7-string set. 62 is a girthy boy. With this tuning, it made sense tho, and is kind of 8-string octave adjacent.

Pyracantha (Iscah Demo 2024)

Stemmed from a conversation with my girlfriend, so I took it upon myself to try and then totally let it collect digital dust. These are the sections I recorded, and I spliced together the most interesting and complete sections. It is a medley of sorts. As seen in playthroughs, they use a pitch shifter, which I do not have. But I still think it came across as convincing. Used the GGD Matt Halpern PV drum kit, and added some de-monotonouzing flare to the outro to add some spice and originality.

Xi (vocal demo.1)

Hah, yeah! Love this tune, and so I asked my good pal Jim if he wanted to do a cover! Here is something to tide over the period between writing music. Jim and I hope to work on plenty more tracks in the future, and not just covers. This is a very genuine cover, nothing fancy or new, just straight forward here.

Also, I had the option to pick a cool stock photo of a red hooded girl, but, I mean, I love cat pics and I couldn't break tradition. I especially could not resist when I found this gem!

Bloody Cape - Jim Morrell and AC (A Deftones Cover)

I got a new laptop. Tried to test it out. Still many bugs to work out with recording vocals, mixing and playback. My new station does no like to play well with how I used to do things. So I am kind of relearning everything... Sucks ass. Still have to buy a new DI, might go with a new DAW too.

Anyways, this is inspired by the kickass intro they did, that I found on YouTube. Totally recreated by me. I had to resort to using my old Rockband USB mic, because my DI doesn't have a driver for Win.10. Anyways, enough griping, I hope they do this live more often. I thought it was so rad I had to have a go at it. I know, I have a go at the weirdest things. 

Enjoy! Tho song was written and performed by The Contortionist. All I did was record my voice in the beginning and mess with the sampling. Sounds pretty close and fucking awesome!

The song seemed fun to play, and the scale is really cool! I learned it to get better at my fingering (getting used to a smaller fretboard as opposed to my bass guitar). It isn't a perfect cover, 3 guitars. One rhythm, one playing the root notes, and then the lead. Recorded at The Seventh Studio West on 12/30/2011

SpongeBoob (Spongebob Outro Music Cover)

Bass tone in no way close to the man Justin Chancellor's, I have shamed my family...

I get bored and a wild hair. Do enjoy this bassline, but no way in hell would I play it for 3:22 seconds, then pick it back up for basically the entire song. Hand cramper for sure. Probably my most favorite Tool song. Why Charlie Kelly and talking about cats? Well it's simple, I love IASIP and cats are a theme around here for my cover art.

Reflection - Tool

I love this song, and since I learned it I really wanted to cover it. It is so beautiful, so much fun to sing and play. All around gorgeous song. This version is more personal. I've sang this for 2 people, pretty lucky, but now you all get to hear it! Enjoy.

Singer-songwriter and a primary writing force in Iscah.

I want to do covers, collaborate, or write for you. My voice is mostly suited for modern metal/progressive metal (djent). However, I love many differing styles of music and can work with whatever you have in mind. So don't let the pedigree deceive you. I am no producer, so almost everything I have here is a demo. I also love playing bass and writing grooves. My skill is not solely vocals if you wish. Metal bass is just one color in my palette.
