In the last few years, Miami has transformed into a hotbed of raw talent and one of its hallmarks is SEL.6, who also happens to be one of the finest artists originally out of Broward County. Jumpstarting her career with the widely revered and self-released Desire series and initiated into Miami’s scene via Space Tapes, the label that launched some of Miami’s most prized and internationally recognized dance music artists; she has woven herself into the fabric of the city’s underground telling the story of her Floridian identity and giving beauty and finesse to the sounds that encompass “Floridacore” in electronic music. Her productions are characterized by signature trancelike soundscapes, sampling inspired by a deep passion and respect for R&B, combined with crisp and powerful percussions while weaving between electro to breaks to hardgroove to jungle making her music perfect for any high ocassion and landing her onto labels like Allergy Season and Omnidisc. This energy transcends into the way she plays, always creating impactful and heavy dance floor moments cementing her as a gem in the city’s club culture. Truly a DJ’s DJ, a massive talent and a dear friend we have loved and watched grow alongside us. 

Secular Music is a sonic exploration rooted in Florida’s rich musical landscape. Blending 90's club influences, humid rhythms, emotive synths, and ethereally expressive textures. Blurring the line between the secular and the spiritual, the theme teases religious undertone, highlighting the irony of club music as both non-secular and deeply spiritual. Secular Music is a tribute to personal transitions, a deep connection to place, and the state’s vibrant music culture. The EP features Miami's own Coffintexts and a remix anthem by Miami Bass queen Jubilee.

Dubwise atmospherics flood Guy Brewer's third RA Mix.

Hear the word "Dionysus" and you picture the Greek god of ecstasy: overflowing tables, delirious revelry, chaos. Not the austere soundworld of Guy Brewer, AKA Carrier. On the surface, the UK artist's latest alias feels almost Spartan. But look closer and the Dionysian link starts to show:  it's about shedding fixed forms and identities, to allow something more true, more alive, to form. 

RA.1011 marks Brewer's third entry in the RA Mix series, following editions as drum & bass outfit Commix (RA.269) and, later, the techno alias Shifted (RA.310). "I guess it's an effort to step away from purism," Brewer told <i>Resident Advisor</i> back in 2023. "Right now the thresholds between genres are where you find the most exciting music." 

Carrier's phenomenal debut album, <i>Rhythm Immortal</i>, delivers on that promise. Low-end pressure cloaks like foreboding shadows, punctured only by eerie, otherworldly percussion comparable only to Photek or T++. Listen to the LP in full and it feels like walking through a scene in a true-crime drama: a fog-drenched city street in the deep of night, ambushed by gusts of wind, whispers and strange noises—and it sounds totally, utterly original.

Tracing a line through dub pressure, fractured percussion and narcotic ambience, Brewer explores that same world on RA.1011. As with the album, there's a primal pulse that threads through the recording. Walls of negative space seem to hover before dissolving inexplicably, their tension intact; drums move more like the weather than rhythm. - Bella Aquilina

I bring you DRBCHILLERS a new series dedicated to the more downtempo, easy listening, sunny afternoon side of things. This kind of music has played a big part of soundtracking my life from growing up on the likes of Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz series to Josh Tweek's delightful MMSU podcasts. I wanted to throw my hat in the ring and curate a collection of selections to compliment the chilled times in life. 

Kicking things off we have our good friend and digger extraordinaire Flavio Matafora aka Albion Street Music. I first met Flavio when playing a Texture Summit party in San Fran some years ago, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to go for a dig at his place and the rest is history. Here is 80 minutes of straight up chillers from the homie, enjoy.
