After landing support from Spotify’s Noteable, Mahogany and BBC Introducing in 2022 - Jonny Morgan returns with an upbeat indie rock single ‘City Lights’ to kick off 2023.

After a few festive months of personal turbulence, Jonny returns with an autobiographical heartache song diving into the difficulties of distance in relationships. This song was co-written with Nashville based artist Scott Mulvahill on a Buddy Holly songwriting retreat in Lubbock, Texas. The single features plenty of warm ambience provided by co-producer Matt J. Fury ’s excellent execution on a Juno-60 -  a sound often found on tracks from Morgan’s current influences, The War On Drugs and John Mayer’s ‘Last Train Home’.

Straight & Narrow captures the struggle and the contradictions that creatives face. It dives into the struggle of pursuing a passion for music while watching your long term friends/ex girlfriends settle down. There’s a conflicting narrative of mocking those who chose a conventional 9-5 existence whilst clearly portraying a feeling of jealousy at the same time. It was written during Chris Difford's songwriting retreat in 2022 with the magnificent Tom Bright.

The opening track from Jonny's debut album, 'Turbulence' uses his irrational fear of flying as a metaphor to explain how remaining in a rocky relationship can often be less scary than being alone. The lyrics were written on a napkin (beneath a packet of complimentary pretzels), over the Atlantic flying back from Toronto post break-up. Just days before the release, Jonny is holding an album launch show in London, hosted by legendary broadcaster-Whispering Bob Harris (BBC Radio 2)

Jonny Morgan is an indie Singer/Songwriter with an unashamed passion for ambient, emotive music - drawing inspiration from artists such as The Paper Kites, The Lumineers, & David Ramirez.

Growing up in the South West of England and spending a lot of time in the states, Jonny’s transatlantic sound is unmistakably influenced by his love for country/roots music. He continues to portray his vulnerability wrapped up in his Americana-inflected folk songs. 

Since signing to Peer Music in the Summer of 2021, Jonny has been meticulously working on his craft in preparation for an exciting 2022. Now based in North London, JM is laying down the foundations for his new releases as well as working with the band in preparation for the comeback of live shows. 

In 2019, Jonny made his debut at Glastonbury and supported the likes of Wildwood Kin, Turin Brakes, & Robert Vincent. He then released his debut EP in 2020 'A Brief Introduction' which put him on the radar of Mahogany, Alex Rainbird, and Sofar Sounds. More recently, his poignant lockdown song 'Treading Water' landed him a BBC Upload 'Track of the Week' and an appearance on 'The Whispering BOBCAST' alongside the legendary Rosanne Cash.
