LOBO has LIFE....

When I left AfrikaBurn last year I knew I wanted to play on that Spirit. I was not sure how I was going to do it but the intention was strong and if you are going to learn anything about The Burn, it is that intention is the key to achieving in that magical space. I asked to play and Michael Kennedy said yes! I still reel from that when I write this and I will be forever grateful and in awe for the opportunity given.

As LOBO announced his arrival at Hauptbahnhof Station the atmosphere was electric. People walking in from all directions, the expectation was huge! All I wanted to do was get it going but I was forced to wait and in turn to soak it all in as the crew were plugging in to the sound system at the station. We were going to be playing off a full surround sound setup that was almost certainly going to blow your heart clean into the stratosphere. Eventually what seemed like an eternity my gear was plugged in and I sit here still in disbelief as to if it really happened.

One of the best experiences of my life. Truly a dream come true to feel the movement of everyone on that perfect Wednesday night. To witness on the desert dance floor... tears, laughter and love.

There is something about the Tankwa that changes the music in some way or form I cannot describe. It sounds better, it feels more, it becomes magic. Is it because we are in place that predates the dinosaurs? This is an old place and whatever it is, it changes what we feel and how sound travels. Fuller, richer, more beautiful...

My expectations ended up being meaningless because I was living the unimaginable. 
I loved playing alongside that Spirit that is LOBO.

These sets are the genesis of something magical to happen at the dawn of the so-called post-apocalyptic era.
The memo was to start with a track and then feel the vibe and follow the energy to where it wants to go.
The first hour was serene and beautiful as the sun began setting. What happened after that as the groove started getting thick and nasty was a series of 'jirre, jissus' moments.
We were both feeling the direction of where and how we wanted to go. For hours we were locked in the groove breaking personal musical barriers as we discovered more in the music than we have previously heard before. Mo was riding those beats with long mixes, twisting, and turning those bass frequencies inside and out.
Kriz was gliding on top of the treble flicking and twitching those faders on the 4/4.
It was certainly a sight and experience to behold as the others could not be still anymore as the bass beckoned them to get up and ride the groove.......
We hope you get to experience a little bit of what happened on that faithful day when MK2 was born.......

What an honour to be hosted on the lockdown2020.co.za show. The show started at 7pm with soft after dinner tones. It was one of those shows where you just press play and go where ever the wind blows. Deep melodies and subtle grooves went into the night pacing as the groove chugs along almost as if it was trying to catch up. Thank you to everybody who tuned in. Some people were catching up with work whilst the music was in the back-round. Some people lit their first spliff for the day. Others kicked off their shoes, poured a glass of wine and yet some others made sweet love to each other(lucky naughty buggers) as they followed the logical progression. I am honoured. This mix is slightly darker, harder, faster and a little more mysterious. The relationship between dark and the light is a delicate balance, fused into one and interconnected by the ever rumbling basslines.
