This week the London based DJ and Producer @sledgerofficial takes on guest mix duties with a one-hour journey through his fusion of deep electronic, indie dance, Balearic influences and dubbiness. Behind the decks is Robin Dallison, an artist who has made waves in the scene with releases on labels like Tici Taci, Pegdoll, and Global Underground, catching the attention of tastemakers Annie Nightingale & Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 1, Nick Warren, John Digweed, and many more. Earlier this year his track ‘Popper’ was hailed as one of the ‘tunes of 2024’ by Sean Jonston's legendary ALFOS - a perfect showcase of his deep, rhythmic, and undeniably addictive sound.

Hot on the heels of the MOONBUILDING 2703 AD
REMIXES / SIN IN SPACE PT. 1 (KOMPAKT 336),
pioneering duo THE ORB receives a royal remix
treatment by PRINS THOMAS: for ALPINE DISKOMIKS /
SIN IN SPACE PT. 2, the Norwegian disco king reworked
the cut „Alpine Evening“ from The Orb’s most recent
release ALPINE (KOMPAKT 339) and infused it with his
trademark floor magic, turning the psychedelic stomper
into a well-oiled, highly energetic dance machine. It’s not
the first time that Prins Thomas revisits material from
Kompakt artists (following his excellent work on Justus
Köhncke and Vermont), but it certainly ranks among his
very best (and most propulsive) efforts to date. The main
DISKOMIKS gets backed by two versions on the flip
side: the SIMPLER TOOL FOR DJ FOOLS scratches that
string itch, while the SHORT YOGA BREAK drops the
beats altogether for extended atmospheric immersion –
a perfect way to close this round of remixes for The Orb.

REMIXES / SIN IN SPACE PT. 1 (KOMPAKT 336) erhält das
Pionierduo THE ORB nun eine fürstliche Remix-Behandlung
von PRINS THOMAS: für ALPINE DISKOMIKS / SIN IN
SPACE PT. 2 hat der norwegische Disko-König den Track
„Alpine Evening“ von THE ORBs aktuellem Release ALPINE
(KOMPAKT 339) neu interpretiert und mit seiner typischen
Tanzflurmagie versehen – der psychedelische Klopfer
wandelt sich unter seiner Hand zur gutgeölten,
hochenergetischen Tanzmaschine. Es ist nicht das erste Mal,
dass Prins Thomas Material von Kompakt-Künstlern in die
Mangel nimmt (man denke an seine exzellente Arbeit mit
Justus Köhncke und Vermont), doch diese Neufassungen
zählen sicherlich zu seinen besten (und treibendsten)
Remixen bisher. Der zentrale DISKOMIKS erhält
Unterstützung durch zwei Versionen auf der Rückseite: das
SIMPLER TOOL FOR DJ FOOLS kratzt das Streicherjucken,
während der SHORT YOGA BREAK die Beats zur
erweiterten atmosphärischen Vertiefung ganz rausnimmt –
eine perfekte Manier um dieses Release abzurunden.
