This week our feature piece is by Berlin's legendary composer and musician Rashad Becker. 
 
Rashad Becker's compositions commonly explore multilayered narratives populated by an ensemble of sonic entities. You may be familiar with his Traditional Music Of Notional Species works, which were released across two volumes on pan_hq. Rashad is a mastering guru at Berlin’s famous Dubplates & Mastering and has mastered many of the releases we have played on our show over the last six years. He has also collaborated with the likes of Eli Keszler, Moritz von Oswald, Okkyung Lee, Andre Vida, Ashley Paul and Valerio Tricoli, just to name a few. 
 
More recently Rashard developed a new cycle of works called Based on a True Story. These works seek to generate scores from historical occurrences and processes that have had a significant impact on recent social history. Rashad has contributed a new chapter of this series to Ears Have Ears. Based on a True Story - Chapter G (Part 5) is a musical documentary with an associative score. This multi-art piece specifically references Sendero Luminoso of Peru and the life of Abimael Guzmán between 1982 and 1992. 

In his own words, Rashad describes it as referencing"the brute implications of revolutionary dialectics and the challenges these carry to the modernist economy of emotions and individual entitlement…..the confrontation and transcendence of the individual pursuit of happiness."
