There is something that is rarely talked about in the business world and I want to start building more attention for it.

That thing is self-awareness.

I’m upset that the narrative these days is that everyone needs to be number one, own a company, be in charge. A lot of people are going to lose that way.

Self-awareness allows people to recognize what things they do best so they can then go hard on those aspects of their life. It also helps you accept your weaknesses.

What works for one person doesn’t work for everyone. I want people to learn to be at peace with themselves, to understand what they can offer, because everyone’s got something. The key, however, is learning how to find it.

Self-awareness can help you do that.

Self-awareness is being able to accept your weaknesses while focusing all of your attention on your strengths.

The moment you decide to accept your shortcomings and bet entirely on your strengths, things will change. Trust me.

The Importance of Self-Awareness

Hard Work & Patience

Everyone who watches this has one weakness they are aware of. Something they aren't good at. Something they haven't addressed. Everyone. That is the beginning of the process of self-awareness.

One of the most important things for me when it comes to running a team is making everyone feel safe. Because when people feel safe, they start telling the truth. And that is an enormous upside in running a business. If everyone can be honest with themselves, be truthful about who they actually are versus who they want to be, that is when the magic happens.

Combining my passion for wine and strength in building businesses led to the success of Wine Library and creation of VaynerMedia. Recognizing what your strengths &amp; weaknesses are, and then reaching down into your DNA to find out exactly what and how you’re going to execute on those will without doubt push you towards success. Just because you’re an excellent marketer doesn’t mean you’re the best at creating every single video or piece of content. Look at what you’re best at and execute on them, and find someone that complements you to complete the pie.&nbsp; Listen deep to these lessons, learn them, and enjoy them!!

How To Execute On Your Strengths and Passions

Everyone that’s trying to decide whether to give the power to their sales or their marketing teams need to stop and give this one a listen. No matter how hard you try, or which side you’re bias to, you need both of these teams in your org. Marketing folks take flak for spending a lot with a few large successes, and the sales teams working lots of things on a lower level. Stop hating Jim in marketing or Julie in sales. Listen up and figure out how to combine the two and build a more successful org. ENJOY!
