One of the longest running feuds in South America is over which country first invented Pisco. The Peruvians claim it, but oh no, the Chileans say that it’s all theirs. Many a late night brawl has been fought over this seemingly pointless piece of trivia, because believe it or not, some South Americans take great pride in their spirituous beverages. The Bearded Man was sipping on Cusqueña in a dive bar in Lima when suddenly a tremendous fight broke out all around him. He could hear through his mediocre Spanish that the fight was one of national pride. Suddenly, a Chilean traveller poked him on the shoulder and asked him whether he though Peruvians had invented Pisco or not. The Bearded Man answered immediately, “No.” “HA!” The Chilean man replied. “See!” The Peruvian guy on the other side of the fight asked The Bearded Man “So you are saying it was invented in Chile then!” “Nope.” The Bearded Man replied. “I invented it.” “Because thousands of years ago, one day I decided wine just wasn’t enough.”

I've always wanted to do an acoustic version of one of my songs... When Brandyn and I first wrote the song, we wrote it acoustic - just keyboard, guitar, and vocals, and we actually cut the first demo live. I actually had no idea what I was going to do with the production, so "Plans" has always lived in my head as an acoustic song that happens to have electronic elements over it. Plus, Brandyn is such an incredible and passionate performer, I really wanted to do a raw version of the song that captured that. The song is also just such a beautiful tune, I think it's a mark of a good song if you can do it without all the bells and whistles and still have it move people. Most importantly, I was messing around and sent a sketch of the acoustic version to my Mom, and she really liked it so that's what really counts. ENJOY!

I think a big part of music for me, is referencing youth and nostalgia, and Drifting Away plays on that idea of getting lost in your own world and doing your own thing. The mindset when we’re young is that we can take chances all the time, and as we get older sometimes this idea fades. I hate that feeling, but i think we’re all guilty of it. After doing something for awhile, sometimes we need to stop for a moment and think about why we started doing it in the first place. This song is about wanting to get back to that mindset, to push outside your comfort zone, surrender yourself to the unknown. Embrace what makes you original and challenge yourself, it’s the only way to get better. Drift into your own world and embrace it.
