Nicole Moudaber links with Hector on the inaugural release for his new VLack imprint, an outlet that will focus on the deeper shades of techno. 

Combining Hector's stripped back approach with Nicole's driving hypnotic essence they deliver the 'Retrosaw’ EP, which features a deep, moody and minimal title track.

To celebrate the launch of the VLack label, Hector has invited Nicole to join him at his home venue Bar America’s to play the Guadalajara event on February 22. 

The three-track, vinyl-only 'Retrosaw’ EP is set for release February 12.

Drumcode has become a label synonymous with some of the most-cutting edge and forward-thinking techno over the last 20 years. Their artists include both emerging and established names, and one of those well recognised is Enrico Sangiuliano. Now announcing the very first concept album of his career.

The prolific Italian producer has been catapulted into the limelight after the runaway success of his past releases, and now Biomorph is born. 

A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution. A musical adaptation describing how biological and technological advances over numerous generations of time have all started from the same first step in our own biological journey.

Divided into 4 parts, Organisms opens with atmospheric tones, gradually blending complex textures and timbres to begin the evolutional process. The beginning of this section combines full sounding arrangements before stripping it all back to basics. From here it dissolves into the atmosphere. Organisms then progresses into a break-beat influenced, down tempo track using synths to add complexity to the straight, broken rhythms.

Galactic, futuristic elements are found in both tracks in Cosmic Forces. Upbeat, groovy, electronic synths resonate, before ‘Hidden T’ brings the tension to get things pumped up with stratospheric swirls and twirls to lay down one of the most mind meltingly deep drops.

Metamorphosis is mysterious, its opening beat is a deep and piercing tone that sends the listener into a sensory awareness of their surroundings before breaking into a fully charged, techno track, with Enrico’s trademark sounds and textures.

All evolution has an ending.

Two Probabilities shows the positive, starting out evocative and emotional, with a gentle harmony, gazing towards a ‘New Dawn’. On the other side of the spectrum lies the negative. This is influenced with a rhythm that articulates the beat of death, mathematical, cold and metallic in texture, it shows the unsustainability of its nature, with a hectic, anxious break beat influenced ending.

Marco Faraone returns to Drumcode with some of his most inspired work ever, comprising of four tracks crossing the Techno spectrum.

Growing up Marco was surrounded by 90s Italo house and techno, which have all had a part in the current sound he produces today. Never one to stick to any individual style, he can often surprise his fans with a set pumping out peak time beats to down tempo house cuts with catchy vocals.

 “With this release, I took some inspiration from listening back to some old Vitalic sounds and giving some extra power to the use of synths in each track. It’s got a festival vibe to it, which is something I wanted to achieve” - Marco

His last Drumcode EP was back in 2016, so this October he makes a welcome return showing his multiskilled productions at their full potential on this mega 4 tracker, opening with the gargantuan ‘Never Forget’. Mutating rhythmic synths hark back to the good ol’ days of BXR and the limitless talent of the Italian Techno scene in the late 90s. Boiling over in the main break this is crowd-pleasing dance music at its finest. 

‘Cruiser’ is a bumpy upbeat ride with a strong melodic hook that will have the hands raised and the feet stomping. Title track ‘Lunar Eclipse’ is a dense, at times claustrophobic roller. Menacing to begin with, the addition of the main melodic motifs lifts the mood midway. ‘Take This Trip’ rounds out an incendiary EP. Lighter and more musical that the previous three, it offers a joyful, softer message.

ANNA V. debuts on Gain Records with an original based on diversity and fresh, new sounds.

This is yet another hardware produced original from Greek / Italian producer ANNA V. “Heart of a Dying Star” single is forged using classic synths of the 80’s and nineties, combined with some of the newest digital gear of today. 
The result is a melodic and intense track based on a solid drum pattern as well as fresh, completely out of the box melodies and seqs that create 2 massive buildups with a change of character in each one!

Sisko Electrofanatik’s take on the original is focused on the arpeggios of the original but the total feel is groovier and more bouncy while keeping the melodic elements in place, thus creating a completely different atmosphere with a really distincive character!

The Southern’s approach is way different. Speedier, more agile and definitely more minimal in scent, uses less ingredients from the original but the combination of the elements used is incredible! This remix is a real banger, definitely a 6 AM remix!

Tom Laws version is preserving much of the original’s character but enriched with his own signature elements. Groovy and spacey, trippy and atmospheric at the same time, it’s a really unique remix of the original track filled with elements that complement the original in an excellent way.

Making a return to the Upon.You Records-camp after his 2017 EP "Push" is Stockholm's Kristian Heikkilä, who's been busy on the production circuit since 2008 with acclaimed releases on AFULab, AcidWorx, Gynoid Audio, Naked Lunch and others. Catering four brand new production efforts from his sound lab he's making an impact again with new "Interpol EP" this fall.

The title track "Interpol" brings forth an ultimate take on rave-driven darkness with a hefty punch and a brooding, overwhelming bassline from hell that proves to be a dangerous weapon for underground warehouse parties and humungous venues with high powered P.A. without any limitations. A killer cut in its own right that defo isn't out and about to show any form of mercy for a dancefloor going wild.

Examining the "Future Past" Mr. Kristian Heikkilä causes havoc with a distinct, masterly crafted ClubTechno tune that is as clean and futuristic as Techno can be, serving a slightly dubbed out stab motif and busy single note synths alongside a pumping, mechanical low end for additional punch and power.

Whilst exploring the "Kaukasus" region we see the Swedish producer stumbling about a seductive, bass-heavy TechHouse groove and crystalline, glockenspiel-resembling synth notes in combination with enchanting, levitating pads and lively background arrangements for a positive and uplifting note on the dancefloor.  

Finally the "Toilet Romantik" introduced by Kristian Heikkilä is something for the darkest hours on the dancefloor, providing an spiralling maelstrom of reverberating sounds and climaxing synths alongside seductive, spine-tingling vocals from another dimension and danger inducing atmospheres that could surely make up for an intense score of a sci-fi or horror flic from the past. Layton Giordani steps up for his first solo EP of 2018.

In terms of pedigrees, it doesn’t get finer than Layton Giordani. The Brooklyn-born DJ/producer followed up his lauded debut album of 2017, with a collaboration with Danny Tenaglia to close out the year and marked the summer of 2018 with a three-way collaboration with Adam Beyer and Green Velvet, ‘Space Date’. The period has been a big one for Layton personally, also. From humble beginnings in his native NYC as an Output resident, to being thrust into the bustle of the European club and festival circuit, he’s enjoyed a stint living in Amsterdam, growing and developing over this time. All these experiences have had a fundamental influence on him and his music. The four-track EP ‘Phase II’ represents a new chapter for this exciting talent.

Beginning with ‘New York to Amsterdam’, a track that draws inspiration from a classic by Yves Deruyter, Layton’s work packs a memorable punch as tough acidic undertones and brain scrambling synth effects undulate raising the intensity, making it a perfect opener for Adam Beyer when he played Berghain earlier this year. ‘Body Language’ follows, a track written when Layton was scrubbed out of touring for a month courtesy of a shattered elbow from a skating accident. Not wasting the downtime, he’s crafted a cut that’s sleek, sexy and smart, with a seductive vocal and rousing melodic riff that runs throughout. ‘Black Mirror’, stays true to its dystopic name, a stomping rave cut that pummels dancefloors with a menacing lead synth that’s purpose built for the cold months ahead. ‘Enter the Stratosphere’ is steely electro-tinged techno paired with atmospheric licks of melody, awhile maintaining the artist’s trademark low-end chug. A classy conclusion to an EP from one of techno’s brightest talents.

Victor Ruiz lands his Debut EP on Drumcode.

Victor first released on Drumcode last year on their most recent edition of the famous A-Sides Vol.7 compilation with his colossal track ‘Pulso’. Victor has been relentless when it comes to producing absolutely huge sounding tracks, which are heavily suited to the big club room vibe. This May he steps up for his debut EP on Drumcode with ‘Nimbus’.

The title track ‘Nimbus’ marked an important milestone in his life, his arrival to Berlin, his new home. Due to the lack of studio space and set up, he made Nimbus entirely with headphones and laptop. A piercing track with a punctuated kick drum that cuts through the mix, alongside some industrial tones which build an eerie tension. A track that really sits on the darker side of the progressive techno world.

Victor explains that this release is “very much a mix of old and new” representing two stages of his life. ‘Unveil’ was a track he produced back in Sao Paulo, when day dreaming of his move to Europe. A chunky low end combined with big percussion that makes it more of a heady introspective track on the release. It most definitely shows a more experimental side Victor but is welcomed and makes for a thunderous dancefloor track.
