I Don't Wanna Have To Drive Today

Vivian Blaine recorded live in "Company", singing "The Ladies Who Lunch", made famous by the creator of the role, Elaine Stritch. Like Jane Russell she performs it much as Stritch did, but with stronger technical chops than either of them. Whether her scream is really grounded in the character is for the listener to decide. She also recorded this for a very good later live album with piano, where her outbursts were almost like rural calls. Cleaned from a good audience tape, by Tormented Artist Ink Studios (me).

Julie Wilson live on the national tour, reportedly the closing performance, singing "The Ladies Who Lunch" from Stephen Sondheim's "Company". Heavy noise was cleaned by Tormented Artist Ink Studios (me). Singing it in a higher key than I've ever heard it, and decades before recording it during one of her cabaret acts, she's very powerful to these ears. And she doesn't scream any of it.
