Voor het ontwerp van de compositie ' M E n i g m a ' wordt er vertrokken vanuit Bury's sculptuur ' 16 Balls, 16 Cubes in 8 Rows (1966) ' . De kubussen binnen deze sculptuur worden gelinkt aan hardere klanken, de bollen worden gelinkt aan zachtere sounds: een klankenmatrix ontstaat. Uit deze matrix worden de interessante klankeninteracties gedestilleerd. Deze klankeninteracties worden verweven met ambient klanken. Net als Bury's terugkerende thematiek ' de traagheid', tracht de compositie de luisteraar in een andere tijdszone te lokken. Viool bruitages gaan in dialoog met de elektronische compositie en zorgen voor een rijke klanktextuur. 
De titel ' Menigma' is een neologisme: 'M' is een afkorting van Minuscule en verwijst naar de insectengeluiden die je waarneemt bij Bury's sculpturen en schilderijen. Enigma is synoniem voor mysterie.

Joost Van Duppen is a sound artist who gets his inspiration from nature. 
With other artists he creates installations where light, sound and motion have a central place and the audience shares this places.  He also works with live electronics in several ensembles.
After finishing his biochemistry degree, he danced in several dance productions which brought him back to music. 
He get his Master in Music Design in Utrecht and Helsinki.
