I put this together for this Friday's set at Stretch Disco in Manchester - http://tinyurl.com/63wu6na - mainly because over the years this has become firm favourite with certain Manchester clubbers. I realise that I'm stepping down a well trodden path with this but I've never had a problem with re-editing classics as long as I feel I'm bringing something new to the party. 

In recent years most people have become familiar with either the classic Larry Levan mix, the wonky dubbed out Hot Coins (Red Rack'em) version, or the stompy remake by Luke Unabomber. This edit is based on the original mix (which is still my favourite version of the track) and features some of the best piano/hammond interaction I've heard on a club record. It still brings a smile to my face that a gospel record has become such a big track amongst the 'chemically influenced', but it's the raw spirituality of it's groove that makes it so uplifting.

Incidentally the management of Band On The Wall have kindly given me an unlimited £5 concession list for Stretch Disco this friday. Otis Redding - Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay (TEEMID Remix)

I am really happy & honoured to announce the officially licensed release of this rare disco / modern soul gem from 1980. Here is my small story about this : I have been introduced to this record a few years back by DJ Klas. On the very first listen, it made me crazy & I went on an intensive & long quest to get myself a copy of the 45. It then became a kind of classics of my DJ sets, the record always being in my bag. It is definitely a sure shot for the dancefloor ! 

I then got in touch with the artist Lamar Thomas, first to try to get a spare copy, but after a few conversations on the web, I told myself it would be nice to give this rare & excellent record a new release. Pascal Rioux & Favorite Recordings finally agreed on the idea, and here it is. 

Very happy & honoured to have contributed to this nice release. Big thanks to Josh Goldman aka DJ Klas, Roger Thornill (for providing the original sleeve art) & to Favorite Recordings for believing in this project!

Wolf + Lambs' San Fran trio Pillowtalk join the W+L Black edits crew, serving up tastefully housed-up reworks of soul gems. First up they get the scissors out on Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell's late 60s soul anthem "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", turning it into an extended, chugging disco-soul bomb. Next up is Bobby Hebb's version of the classic "Sunny", this time with the simplest of house beats added, making this an essential for Marcy Hotel nights.
