I recently made a mix for the label Spa In Disco (coming soon) and decided to go over or re-invent some of my more popular funk edits from a while ago to put into the mix. The old project files themselves were elementary at best and it's good to know that i have made developements over time to tighten and better my production skills. This is one track that's in the mix and i've decided to get it professionally mastered and put it up as a FREE DOWNLOAD in it's fresh Re-Fixed 2023 form.

We made a cheeky booty!

We took the instrumental Nightmares On Wax remix of our release Cruise Control and added a Roots Manuva acapella and have been using it as a bit of a secret weapon for the last few months.

After much discussion we think you guys should have it too!

The original Cruise Control release features the vocal talents of @mysdiggi and mixes from Nightmares On Wax, Basement Freaks and Doris & Dazzla. It's was released on both vinyl & digital on Jam City Records in 2021.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, tenor saxophone player and bandleader Charles ‘Packy’ Axton is yet another of the uncelebrated, despite a deep pedigree and funky catalogue of notable grooves. Part of the mighty Stax family through birth—Packy’s mother Estelle Axton and uncle Jim Stewart founded the southern R&B dynasty in the early 1960’s—Packy picked up the sax at a young age, and after linking with future Booker T. & the M.G.’s Steve Cropper and Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn, formed the The Mar-Keys. Almost reaching the top of the R&B and pop charts in 1961 with the classic “Last Night,” friction caused by Packy’s party going ways caused a split. It wasn’t until 1965 that the wild child had another national instrumental hit on his hands, “Hole In The Wall” by the Packers.
