This song began as a well developed, funky disco idea Roy came up with on his guitar, and shared with JJ. JJ added a wonderfully complex orchestration of various keys (including the sax solo you hear towards the end.    JJ invited Stephen first, who came up with the funky ass wah guitar that also carries the groove. 

Of course, JJ realized that this is a disco song, so he enlisted Ken to come up with one of his awesome beats to carry it along. 

JJ had a rudimentary bass line that he played himself, but decided to get Josh to do the honors instead. So, Josh came up with a totally new bass line designed to shake your cheeks. 

Once it was in the can, we decided to ask JJ to mix it for us. This is a first time JJ has mixed a song for The Eclectic Collective, and we were all impressed with his work. Stephen mastered it, as he is a master masterer.    

We're all really impressed and delighted with the experience of working with Roy and his music. He is a very talented artist with a lot of great music to check out on his page, too.   We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it, and that it makes you shake your hips while you're doing the dishes, too!

In the heart of a shadowed forest, two young boys chase a butterfly, only to find themselves lost amid towering trees and deepening darkness. Their laughter fades, swallowed by an oppressive silence as fear grips them. Suddenly, from the gloom emerges a wolf, its dark fur gleaming like obsidian, eyes reflecting the scars of its past. In a tense standoff, each side feels the weight of their histories—stories of savagery and betrayal that have shaped their fears. Yet beneath the instinctive dread lies a flicker of connection, a shared sorrow that they both wish things were different. In that brief moment, a fragile hope for understanding sparks between them. As they confront each other, the boys and the wolf stand on the precipice of something profound, their fates intertwined yet uncertain. In that haunting stillness, they linger in a world defined by fear and the unfulfilled desire for connection, each aching with the sadness of what could have been, leaving the outcome unknown.

I started my musical journey at the age of five, initially composing music with tablature taught by my father. Beginning with the penny whistle and violin, I played in our family band, busking on the streets of Bath.

Our travels across the country inspired compositions like "Road to Wareham." Music became my sanctuary, especially after being diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. In college, under mentors such as Dr. Rick Birley, Dr. Richard Hall, and Dr. Julie Trevett, I honed my skills in composition, theory, and piano, transitioning to formal music notation using Sibelius.

Today, I compose for film, video games, and theatre. My music, influenced by my diverse experiences, aims to evoke emotion and tell stories.
