What Is Metal?

I would call this Experimental Progressive Psychedelic Rock Metal. I call it "A Surfers Paradise" because of how the beginning starts off calm then once the waves enter it starts getting heavy with the vocals and distortion entering, then finishes off when the acoustic ends the piece when all is calm. I would like to thank Jeral Doyley (vocals), Aaron Eichler (percussion), and Dr. Lee (Professor)for helping me record my song.

A Surfers Paradise

When creating this song, which is another DMap project I had to do, I sort of wasn't thinking how I wanted it to go. Then when I had the melody created, it sort of reminded me of a lullaby that a mother would sing to her child to put them to sleep. Even though I did the bass, guitar solo, mixing, and arranging, I would like to thank all who helped me record my score. Aaron Eichler (drums), Lisette Gagnon (vocals), Justin Dow and Michael Petrino (guitar), and Jeral Doyley (lyricist).

I Sing To You My Lullaby

This piece was made for technology called the "Emotichair", that is developed by the University of Ryerson in the IMDC department, for people with hearing disabilities/impaired. It is essentially a chair that sends vibration through so you can feel the music through vibration. When creating this piece I focused more on the vibration when having the speakers on me. In the end this is how it sounded. The tracks on this are from an escalator that I sampled and edited in Audacity. The rest were a kick and cymbals, that I had to transpose down for the chairs could pick up the vibration through, from an electronic drum kit.

Vibrational Revolution

The vision in this piece is to display a visual idea that there is more of a subconscious identity into creating the reality that you want through the way that you currently perceive life. With each of these different layers, the main background idea’s are a way of entering your mind. Once entering, its the idea of going through seven different gates (such as the seven bass hits) and in the end, reconnecting into the reality that you want, with the jaw harp being the sign for entering, and ending the end of subconscious. Through the midpoint where the atmosphere of the piece starts to increase and add more detail; the wind bell, the chordal harmonize with the white noise, and the crosswave with an additional melody to the piece with the wind bells are the ideas of adding the finishing of knowing more of the person that you want to be, when in your subconscious. The additional bells that are added, the first two bells that are at the same time as the bass hits and so on, represent the idea that even though you are going into your subconscious, you cannot forget the idea of reality, the reality that you are in and have happen. Giving a certain theme so that when the listening audience is viewing the piece, they are remembering what is happening, a certain familiarity in being calm and relaxed.
