JORDAN STRONG (Uniting Souls, Los Angeles)
Always a savant in the house music community, Los Angeles native Jordan Strong has played part in unifying a movement in electronic music up & down the West Coast. 
A Uniting Souls resident DJ since 1999, Jordan has had several releases on the Seattle-based label, including a full-length album, and two tracks on the Uniting Souls 20-Year Anniversary compilation release. 
Jordan has co-produced Los Angeles shows such as Housepitality, Big Bang, Village, and  fundraising events for NextAid & Give A Beat, two socially-conscious non-profits active in the electronic music community. Jordan's latest original compositions was released on NYC's Touch of Class (home of Pillowtalk's Michael Tello), and he is currently in the studio with Seattle icon Jon Lee. Keep an ear to the ground for some fresh upcoming releases!

Jordan Strong returns to Uniting Souls Music for the slinky after-hours ride of "Shine Down." Hot on the heels of "The Tribe, The Hive," the previous USM release from the Los Angeles-based DJ/producer, "Shine Down" is a hearty dose of flowing deep house mixed with a captivating touch of Italo disco. Simmering pads and spacey vocoder action lay over a prominent bass line and punchy rhythm kit. Echoed handclaps, disco toms, and cool electronic piano chords add to the track's dance-floor appeal. It's potent stuff.

The remixes are varied and equally cool. L.A.'s SAAND (Dilate, Sol Selectas) creates a psychedelic interpretation that wouldn't be out of place in the dark backroom of a late-90s Bay Area underground party. Pacific northwest veteran Michael Manahan (Hunt & Gather) delivers a crisp, insistent take that reveals layers and cosmic vibrations throughout its runtime. Lee Houser (Proper Slap, Filter Music) — the Seattle duo of John Lee and Simon Houser — remodel "Shine Down" into a lush and hypnotic slice of classic deep house. And then Jordan Strong returns with his Beachcomber Remix, offering a bigger sound accented by a rousing 80s-style guitar solo. Another stacked, quality release from Uniting Souls.

Over the past two decades, Uniting Souls founder Ramiro has become known, in the words of the Seattle Weekly, as "an inextinguishable accelerant of Seattle's house community.” He celebrates this by closing out 2020 with label veterans Jordan Strong and Tony H for “Be See Seek.” This rousing deep house track is a call to rise above the fray of these trying times. As the rhythms mesmerize, Ramiro repeats an inspiring mantra: “Be the light, see the love, seek connection, invite unity, feel peace, embrace freedom, and share the gift.” Meanwhile, Jordan and Tony provide tough, crisp production with a distinctive west coast flavor. Hand percussion, dubbed out effects, a guiding bass line, and sparse synth melodies round out this driving cut.

Jordan and Tony also deliver the Sunset Tech Mix and the Acid Unity Mix, both giving sublime variations on the original, hinted at stylistically in their mix titles. Then, for a quartet of remixers, Uniting Souls scoured the west coast for talent. Vancouver’s Sean Dimitrie (Bombay Records) offers a spacey and deep version that with cool keys and hypnotic bell-like tones. There’s a bass-heavy stomper from California’s Knoe1 (Rong Music) and a punchy prime-time tech take from George JJ Flores. The single closes with a remixed version by Seattle’s DYR, increasing the dubbiness for a late-night deep house excursion. As always, Uniting Souls keeps it real.
