Honesty. That sole word may well be the best way to describe Jordi Abel’s music. Sure, critics may complain about his fragile, slightly trembling voice. They may even bash the simplistic nature of his lyrics. But in the end, who cares? The songs on this album have a pure and personal quality about them that makes each one of them a gem in it’s own right.
Jordi writes about his personal experiences, and he does so in a very delicate, yet direct manner. Whether he writes about the paper round he used to do (I wanna go to bed), or his mothers illness (I’m so proud of you), his songs all seem to exhibit the same kind of purity, without ever getting over-serious or heavy, even when the songs touch on some heavy subjects.
His incredibly catchy, dreamy melodies are reminiscent of music from days gone by, like the music made by the Beatles or Les Paul. However, if you listen more closely, you’ll also hear the influence of more modern day heroes like John Mayer and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. These incredibly strong melodies, accompanied by Jordi’s own intricate style of guitar playing, and his slightly imperfect, fragile voice, make for a beautiful, intimate record that shows exactly what the power of music is: emotion.

If you’re into difficult chord progressions, overtechnical singing and hypercomplicated riffs, this might not be for you. If you however enjoy music without pretenses, straight from the bottom of the songwriters heart, this CD is definitely worth checking out.
