This is a recording of my set from the last Distorted Event at the Black Box in Nambour (Sunshine Coast Australia). I thoroughly enjoyed playing on our big vibrant stage and the sound facilities were incredible! 

The Distorted Image project has been a child of mine for a few years and this set was a burst of energy after many years searching for our clubbing and musical experience on the sunny coast. 

For all those who couldn't attend, get yourself to the next event! Our music artists are all considered veterans of the game. Support the scene and help build some underground dance events.

My obsession with DJing started with my first introduction to clubbing when I saw Paul Van Dyk at Home Nighclub at 19. I couldnt understand how the energy kept going all night, and this was before I used drugs of any kind. The allure of this dark, sweaty, loud, sacred space where one could be anyone they wanted and simply dance into a coma for hours without talking. I wanted to be that! It all began using computer software Virtual DJ and collecting trance tracks from the amazing websites back then, which were a hub or community of people who were out in the scenes. My musical taste was influenced by the sydney club scene in the early 2000s, and hard dance/trance was my first love. The second coming of the trance movement was something Special. Those people that were with me during those times are still my closest friends as we all bonded through a love for this music and the collective scene. All our weekends and money back then was spent on seeing international DJs tour through the clubs in Sydney. My music taste grew to evolve during that time, I also found electro, house and DNB came knocking on my door. The journey with DJing back then was primitive and I thank my friends around me who encouraged me to keep going. I continually made mixes and made sure to keep collecting endless electronic music to catalogue in my computer. I still go back to these timeless periods of deep house, trance and the great productions of early electronic music. 

Living in Berlin as a young 20 year old really gave me the raw understanding of what a proper night club stood for! The DJs were not high on stages or elevated above the crowd. They were hidden in darkness as it wasnt about them, it was the space they were creating for others to thrive. My musical tastes really changed there, as I got into heavy darker sounds of Techno, and even some dubstep for a time. I bought my first piece of DJ tech over in Berlin! A little digital mixer I could plug into Traktor software. Attending regular dark dank nightclubs and huge festivals in europe gave me a very matured sense of electronic music. The scene had been around for so much longer over there and I found my modern tastes needed some serious history lessons. 

Fast forward years after living in Europe, my tastes grew out of trance elements and into something I learnt to be the most important thing in DJing....The Tracks must be aligned and take your audience on a journey. If the music is good, the mixing, the gear and all the other shit doesnt matter. 

I honed my mixing and DJing skill from watching the great DJS. Sasha being one of the most important in my journey as he can mix like nobody else. I begged borrowed tracks from DJ sets to create my own track lists. 

The other side to my DJing are the people who have helped create this persona in me through support and love. All the people over the years who have shared music and helped comment on my music, but also the people who have been in the middle of a dancefloor with me til the sun comes up. 

My passion for the past almost 20 years has been to continue creating and constructing musical journeys for my followers. It can be a disheartening passion project as often people dont realise how much effort goes into finding the right modern music. The constant hunting for what the future deems as good music. As we find attention spans are dropping in the modern world, I want to play tracks that are good all the way through. 

I will continue to find the music that is underground, danceable, melodic, pumping, groovy, techy, dreamy, banging, dark, heavy, weird, spacey, proggy and string them together to create a musical journey for the listener.
