We are beyond delighted to have the very talented duo, Nature of Music with us for our 21st episode. 

There is a unique presence in the work of Toronto based Duo, Nature of Music. There is a sense of patience that allows their sound to ‘breathe’ in the framework of their sets and their production work. Strings play out, the delays roll off into the distance, and the reverb swells and holds you. They achieve this through utilizing the three principle components in music. The duo fuses rhythm, melody, and harmony into musical works that combine both live performance and DJing into sophisticated blends. Drum machine rhythm pieces, mesmerizing palettes of melody sprinkled with hints of spoken word and acapella, and rich atmospheric pads and string ensembles create deep harmonies that all play equal rolls in the duo’s theater of sound.
Nature of Music formed in 2009 and has since worked with some of the industry’s most innovative tastemakers. They have been praised by industry heavyweight, Hernan Cattaneo as a “Top production duo to look out for.” This is reflected with their releases for Cattaneo’s influential Sudbeat label. Their talent has brought them to international territories across oceans for both intimate affairs and crowd jamming festivals. Having been invited to play at Robert Miles’ OpenLab nights in Ibiza, they’ve gotten the attention of some of the true pioneers of modern dance music. Nature of Music stylistically are unlike any other and after a few plays become instantly recognizable. Their work is aimed to make people move a way that keeps them lost in the present moment. It is a peaceful state of being that is promoted through beautiful melancholic shades of electronic music.

We have entered times unknown to us and some of our close family members are facing social distancing as we are uniting against a virus. Take an active stand yourself, seclude, reassess, there is so much inside you that is yet to be explored.

But every dark day has a bright light and we focus on the good. And so we at the Babylon HQ take our time to dive deep into the music. We are going to continue the work with our label, we will run The Isolation Diaries with a lotttt of music coming your way and we open the gates for new input.

The Isolation Diaries - Anatolian Sessions

Founder of Underground Meco and resident Dj for Warm Up London.

 Hailing from Portugal, Jorge Martins was born in Lisbon and grew up in the Azores and Almada on the Atlantic coast, before starting his career as an electronic music producer in 2010. Soon after, Jorge moved to London, which he sees as one of the most influential cities in Europe for electronic music.

Influences that can be heard in Jorge’s music are: Hans Zimmer, Max Cooper, Ryan Davis, Extrawelt, Vibrasphere, Rampa, Lee Burridge, Rui da Silva, Sébastien Léger Radiohead, Massive Attack, David Fonseca, Blasted Mechanism, Panpha Du Prince and David August.

Always focussed on delivering the most forward-moving music available, he became resident DJ at Warm Up, London in 2014, a night created by DJ and promoter Aidan Doherty, defined as “…a techno and electronica night that has grown into a hugely respected project showcasing the very best in forward thinking artists. 

The reputation has not only been founded on superb artist bookings but on the consistent high standard of Warm Up’s resident DJs playing ground-breaking sets.” Since then, Jorge has built up an impressive CV, playing in London, Paris, Lisbon, Ovifat and Montreal, and warm up sets to main acts including Sasha, Guy J, Olaf Stutt, John Monkman, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Gidge, Ryan Davis, Parra for Cuva, Arjuna Schiks, Rodriguez Jr., Some Chemistry, Van Did, and Hubert Kirchner, as well as making appearances at festivals such as Gottwood, Farr, NoName, Suit, Goat Community, Boom and Noisily.

Jorge plays beautiful music in the most beautiful possible way, creating positive energies through driving grooves which are supported by deep, warm melodies.
He has proven consistent in showcasing a wide range of styles of Electronica and Techno on both the London and Lisbon scene and his varied list of venues at which he has played include Crucifix Lane, XOYO, Electric Brixton, The Egg, Corsica Studios, Bloc, Studio 9294, Studio 338 The Steel Yard, Village Underground London, Satchi Gallery, Ministerium Lisbon, Harbourt Lisbon and Pérola Negra Porto.
