Sirens Podcast 040: Metrika

Metrika is one of Mexico’s most influential electronic music artists, known for his genre-bending approach and deep connection to the country’s music scene. He blends minimal, house, techno, and experimental elements into a signature sound that's both cerebral and dancefloor-driven.

Based in Mexico City, Metrika operates his studio Happy Accidents. In this creative space, analog gear, modular setups, and digital techn iques converge to shape his distinctive productions as both an engineer and producer. His work has landed on respected labels like Crosstown Rebels, Sol Selectas, Culprit, and Kompakt, earning him global recognition. Metrika’s live sets are known for their dynamic energy, weaving together a wide range of influences and keeping dancefloors locked in motion.

In addition to his solo work, Diego is one-third of Secret Echoes, a dynamic collaboration with Estefani Brolo (of BROLORIZO & I.M YONI) and Marco Balcazar (of Balcazar & Sordo). Each member brings a distinct musical background to the project, blending house foundations with melodic innovation to craft a unique fusion of sound. Secret Echoes debuted with their first single "Bring My Beat Back," released on Crosstown Rebels in September 2024, followed by their second single "Particles" in March 2025. With more releases already planned, the project continues to build momentum and expand its unique sonic vision.

This Wave Room episode is the recording of my sunrise set from Katerblau in Berlin in July 2025.
it was my first time playing there, right after my friends Chambord at 6am, the energy was so warm and open, it really gave me the freedom to play around and step outside my usual comfort zone.

Berlin just hits different. The way it embraces artistic expression is really special. And Katerblau itself is such a dreamy venue, right on the water, partly on an old boat.

Also, around 2h13 in, i play a track that means a lot to me: it’s my new collab with Monblaire called Don't Depend, and it’s coming out this Friday on Bedrock 🤍

Founder of Underground Meco and resident Dj for Warm Up London.

 Hailing from Portugal, Jorge Martins was born in Lisbon and grew up in the Azores and Almada on the Atlantic coast, before starting his career as an electronic music producer in 2010. Soon after, Jorge moved to London, which he sees as one of the most influential cities in Europe for electronic music.

Influences that can be heard in Jorge’s music are: Hans Zimmer, Max Cooper, Ryan Davis, Extrawelt, Vibrasphere, Rampa, Lee Burridge, Rui da Silva, Sébastien Léger Radiohead, Massive Attack, David Fonseca, Blasted Mechanism, Panpha Du Prince and David August.

Always focussed on delivering the most forward-moving music available, he became resident DJ at Warm Up, London in 2014, a night created by DJ and promoter Aidan Doherty, defined as “…a techno and electronica night that has grown into a hugely respected project showcasing the very best in forward thinking artists. 

The reputation has not only been founded on superb artist bookings but on the consistent high standard of Warm Up’s resident DJs playing ground-breaking sets.” Since then, Jorge has built up an impressive CV, playing in London, Paris, Lisbon, Ovifat and Montreal, and warm up sets to main acts including Sasha, Guy J, Olaf Stutt, John Monkman, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Gidge, Ryan Davis, Parra for Cuva, Arjuna Schiks, Rodriguez Jr., Some Chemistry, Van Did, and Hubert Kirchner, as well as making appearances at festivals such as Gottwood, Farr, NoName, Suit, Goat Community, Boom and Noisily.

Jorge plays beautiful music in the most beautiful possible way, creating positive energies through driving grooves which are supported by deep, warm melodies.
He has proven consistent in showcasing a wide range of styles of Electronica and Techno on both the London and Lisbon scene and his varied list of venues at which he has played include Crucifix Lane, XOYO, Electric Brixton, The Egg, Corsica Studios, Bloc, Studio 9294, Studio 338 The Steel Yard, Village Underground London, Satchi Gallery, Ministerium Lisbon, Harbourt Lisbon and Pérola Negra Porto.
