Matthias Meyer’s acclaimed label Strangely Enough returns with its first release of 2023, a stunning EP from Come Closer, backed by a sublime remix from the label boss.

The EP’s three tracks were all recorded at different times of the year, which is reflected in the mood, music and sound.

Opening track, the uplifting ‘Glory’, is the perfect summer track which evokes warm, balmy evenings, early dawns, and dancing open air from dusk to dawn.

The invigorating and experimental ‘Chuvak’ is inspired by spring and the re-awakening of nature after winter, with the nocturnal birds returning from Southern Hemisphere countries, and the rhythms of the night becoming louder and more captivating, as the sun starts to rise earlier.

Finally, the dreamy and aptly titled ‘Wonderful’ evokes autumn and nostalgia for the passing summer. As leaves fall on the street, the evenings become colder, and people start to seek warmth from the fireplace.

Strangely Enough label boss Matthias Meyer provides a sumptuous remix of ‘Wonderful’ to close the EP in true style.

Come Closer is a collaborative between respected Producers & DJs Mike Spirit and Asaga, who are connected through their work on Highway Records. Under their new moniker, they present their own sound vision of the modern dance floor, blending elements of deep, organic and progressive house with tribal grooves and crispy percussion. The duo have previously released together on Mobilee Records, Renaissance, Sirin, Bar25, Guy Mantzur’s Moments and Dave Pad of Volen Sentir’s Forestrip Music.

Come Closer - Chuvak

'British-born, Atlanta-based producer Nick Newman is back to Armadillo Records with his second release on this avant-garde Malta-based label. This four-track material is ideal for deep relaxation, meditation, or even as a potential soundtrack for a documentary about marine life.

The first track, "Towards Peace," is a conceptual fusion of various elements, including Musique Concrete, musical improvisation, futuristic sound effects, and electronic snippets. It embraces the minimalist approach of a Buddhist monk, where every component, from the soothing waves to the low-end frequencies, holds significant importance.

The second track, "Enlightened Man," continues the coherent audio journey with a more psychedelic twist. The piece features vocal narration that delves into the human experience on the path to enlightenment, occasionally taking the spotlight alongside offbeat percussions.

While contemporary music disregards the dynamic range, "Searching Within" takes a different direction. Its slow crescendos and decrescendos invite self-reflection and serve as the artistic centerpiece of this 24-minute release. This eclectic piece is particularly suited for practices centered around solar healing during sunrise or sunset.

Closing the album is a stripped-down version of "Enlightened Man," where Newman skillfully demonstrates that greatness can be achieved through a minimalist approach to emotionally charged sounds, underscoring the idea that less can be more.'

Bass van Duijn is actief bezig met muziek sinds dat hij elf is. Op zijn veertiende stond hij al voor publiek te draaien. Een aantal jaar later was hij wekelijks te vinden in verschillende clubs door heel Nederland. Even daarna is hij een tijd gestopt. Na een lange pauze heeft hij nu zijn carrière weer opgepakt. Dat is natuurlijk geweldig nieuws. Ook is hij druk bezig met zijn eigen track, maar ook met zijn clubconcept genaamd 'Vroeg Clubben'. Bass van Duijn zit niet stil kunnen we wel zeggen!
