GeorD, the mastermind behind the remix, shares his journey of blending old-school synth complexity with modern sound purity. By intentionally degrading clean sounds, he creates a unique character that pays homage to classic trance vibes. The intricate sound design layers bring a full, natural resonance that echoes the iconic Gouryella style.

In his own words, GeorD explains, 'I really liked Erik's track, so when he asked me to remix it, I decided to simply edit it to infuse more of my character, improving where I could. It's more than an edit but not quite a remix-hence, a 'respray.' The breakbeat even contains some inspiration from 'From the Heart,' making this a subtle tribute to Ferry's legendary sounds.'

Okay, so I've finally decided to start with the whole mashup thing. I absolutely LOVE the vocal and breakbeat in the intro of Project Medusa Vs. Exor - Moonshine (Exor Part II Mix), but the rest just sounds so... bland. I at some point even tried tracking down the artists to obtain the original vocal to make a rework, but I did not succeed in finding contacts. So I let it rest, discontented.

Until I found Orion - See Me Here. It just felt right to infuse the latter track with the ambience of the former, and thus the idea of this mashup was born.

INTENSE EMOTION.

That is what Trance has given me over the years.

I have discovered many more tracks since my last "favourites of all time" mix very nearly 6 years ago, and my tastes have grown over these years. Some favourites remained, but many got replaced by different masterpieces. Therefore, I felt an updated version of the mix was in order. And boy, what a tracklist it has become.

All in all this 2024 update of my all times favourite mix, additionally to the 17 extra included tracks, is significantly more varied than the 2018 edition. More mysterious, more vague, more experimental, deeper, darker. Despite these changes I see one big commonality between all tracks included: they make you FEEL. And although diminished, the happier, sunny and euphoric elements remain, creating a fever dream-like contrasting journey through emotions. Dreamy, emotional and journeyful Trance continues to be my favourite kind, and I expect it to remain that way, in whatever shape or format. After all, for me the magic and epicness in Trance stem from the concept of contrast permeating the genre through every element.

Join me on this contrastful trip, this cathartic journey of intense emotions. I promise you won't regret it.

So, another year has passed and it's time to look back on last year's music!

The Deep and Progressive sides of the House and Trance scenes have continued to flourish in the past year and despite my relatively narrow scope compared to the Uplifting Trance scene, there were plenty of tracks that I enjoyed. This is even the first year where the Deep & Progressive mix is the longest of the three!

Colorize has definitely been my favourite label included in this mix. However, the experimental sounds of the new Anjunadeep Explorations label also suit me very well, and the ever increasing expansion of the Deep Trance scene spearheaded by Forescape Digital and JOOF also provided some great innovative journeyful work.

My favourite tunes in this mix are probably "Jack Willard - Vista", "Romain Garcia - Sevilla", and "SØNIN & BLR feat. Brieanna Grace - Rush (2AM Club Mix)" in decreasing order. Leon Bolier has had a particularly stellar year under his BLR alias, and many others did great as well.

GeorD's 2024 Year Mix 1; Deep and Progressive

Well, time for the recap of the (Uplifting) Trance scene of the past year. The unequivocable tune of the year for me is Andy Blueman's "Synthetic Evolution". Scene-wide there has definitely been a shift towards more 90's-oriented production again and this approach finally started breaking through to the mainstream, as I have been anticipating for some years now. A return to the 90's means an ever increasing blending of genres at their interfaces, causing increased experimentation and therefore increasing character in music compared to previous years. 

In terms of artists I have to congratulate Cold Blue and Asteroid, who already were veterans, but have managed to outshine themselves and consistently developed artistically compared to their earlier years. Label-wise FSOE absolutely dominated the quality in the scene this year imo, with many other labels (even smaller ones) releasing some special unexpected works. Pinkque's album "Beautiful Struggle" has been very memorable for me, considering its apt and beautiful way of portraying the desease of depression, of which my favourite track has been included in the mix. My own artistic year has also been good, there were some releases with a higher focus on experimentation again, and my collab with SounEmot has been included in the mix to celebrate this dream collab.

GeorD's 2024 Year Mix 2; Uplifting

And finally, the harder spectrum of my taste also deserves a tribute.

What a cesspool the majority of the Hard Dance scene is, lol. On the one hand the mainstream Rawstyle scene has sunk to previously unexplored lows in terms of quality where the scene is noticably lazier and shittier than a year ago. However, on the other hand, there is a very strong push with an incredibly fast development towards more industrial sounds, spearheaded by my absolute two creative legends of the Hard Dance scene this year: Kruelty and Mortis. 

Kruelty already carried his sinister brand, but has been hard at work developing into a true artist past year, whereas Mortis freshly exploded onto the scene about a year ago, and has been making his own style of hyperaggressive Raw known by collabing with established artists. Hats off to these two.

My favourite track in this mix, however, is "Insurgent & Mindst8 - Awaiting". For me it is the perfect blend of fast-pased hard Raw and melodic Euphoric influences with a strong focus on detail. Insurgent has definitely grown in the past year and Mindst8 has started releasing mindboggling tracks out of nowhere!

There also appears to be a stronger push towards experimentation and towards the classic sound here, as in the Trance scene. However, in the Hardstyle scene the classic vibes are still very much underground, and I can't wait to see what it brings in the future. Especially ForgePhoric shows great potential to carry the banner for this scene in the future.

GeorD's 2024 Year Mix 3; Hard

Hello again!

Well, here is the full release version, out today.

The initial sketches of this track were made in 2019 and I've been working on it on and off since then. I would work on it a bit and then would abandon it again as I never felt it went anywhere and it was just too generic. Until recently, when I decided to rework it from scratch and I finally realized how to make the track complete! As a result of this long process the track turned out to feel like a balanced combination of my older sound and my newer sound, hopefully combining the best of both worlds.

Cold Blue - Mountain is definitely my album of the year. A true faceted emotional journey exploring both sunshine and thunder. Next year's mix will probably contain some more tracks from the album once they are fully released. I can't recommend listening to the album enough! The documentary accompanying it is touching as well.

For me no label really stood out for me this year, it's all just been artists on random (or their own private) labels releasing good stuff every now and then. 

Angelica S & Science Deal however did stand out as artists, as they've managed to push a more modern sound while creating more meaning, which is something quite rare for me. My unequivocal TOTY is Angelica S - Liturgia Nr. 1 (Uplifting Trance Mix). It's true Trance perfection for me, nothing comes close. The cinematic nature with the raw euphoria touch me deeply.

The further rise of Transaphonic, Aligash Brandt Hoff is nice to see, as well as the return of Alfa. Cold Blue, John O'Callaghan and Factor B still dominate the more popular side of Trance for me. Asteroid keeps pushing his sound further and SounEmot still produces some quality emotional sounds. Most of the others tracks here are from reliable veterans. All in all it's been a good year with quite a few memorable tracks.

For me there haven't been any new releases since january. That's mostly because I've chosen to focus on story-driven tracks which take a lot of time to perfect. I've also mainly focused on developing my sound where I want it to be, meaning I've spent a lot of time thinking, experimenting and shaping. I hope I can share the results soon, but I can't give any guarantees yet.

2025 Year Mix - Trance

This year I've fallen more and more for Ambient and in all honesty, the releases have been insane. So, I decided to add the Ambient EOY mix to the list of genres I make EOY mixes for. I've subdivided the mix into chapters with the artwork flowing through accordingly, to increase the sense of journey.

My favourite of this mix by far & wide is Kyle Preston - No Shores, Only Horizons. Kyle Preston has been at the forefront of the genre for me. He has an unmatched talent of blending textures with stringwork, creating an unheard of depth of sound. The depth tapers off in a way that makes it bounce off itself endlessly. Simply something that keeps on giving, no matter how deep you look.

I hope this journey gives you meaning, emotions and depth!

2025 Year Mix - Ambient

Hi all,


Now I know this will be way out of the comfort zone for most here, so this mix is (more even than the other mixes) born out of passion.

I was honestly surprised with the quality of Industrial (Techno and Hardcore) this year, enough to make a separate mix. I'm probably just scratching the surface for this style here, so there must be an enormous amount of quality I'm missing, but I thought it was worth making this mix anyway.

I've delved deeper into melodic Industrial Techno/ Schranz than before and I've found a lot of quality. Especially Ryx is a big upcoming talent for me, I can't wait to see what more he comes up with. His tracks contain an unmatched longing melancholy for me. On the Industrial Hardstyle front sadly my interest has disappeared, as this scene has quickly commercialised into an entirely flat and uninteresting live-oriented style, leaving very few interesting story-telling tracks. Industrial Hardcore remains dominated by Ophidian, especially with his new Blackbox album, but there are several really creative and atmospheric tracks by others as well this year. Especially Nanostorm & Embrionyc - Set It Ablaze is remarkable, the amount of production value and uniqueness is off the charts there! The album The Analog Void by Mad & Darkcontroller also deserves a mention, it's full of horror-like atmospheres and twisted sounds creating a pitch black soundscape.

My favourite track here is Ophidian - The Stars, which for me sets the bar to the next level in terms of story telling. This must be my favourite track of the year across all genres, together with Angelica S - Liturgia nr.1 (Uplifting Mix). And both tracks were released in the same week!

GeorD - Earth (Original Journey Mix)

Hello friends. Here's a little surprise, I decided to make a mix with my 20 favourite Uplifting Trance tracks! They're unranked as I feel a mixing order based on style would do them more justice than a mixing order based on ranking. As you'll hear the mix starts off with Classic (sounding) tracks and slowly transitions into the Orchestral and ends with a bang! One thing they all have in common; dreaminess and overloads in emotion ;).
This is my first mix that actually involved mixing over tracks and I'm pretty happy with the result :). I think it's a worthy tribute to these masterpieces.
There's another mix coming in about a month with all my favourite tracks from 2018 and there are several of my own releases in the next 1-2 months, so there will be plenty of activity on this channel!

Hi there, may be a bit late this year, but here's my top 20 mix of 2019! Mostly Trance as usual, with some surprises this year.
