What happens if you take 3 great jazz musicians, put them in recording studio, and throw electronic music at them?

This project was an experiment into exactly that, with my long running collaborator Kathrin deBoer on vocals, and the greatest trumpet player I've yet to hear - Quentin Collins, with Jack Stevens on bass for this one track from the EP too. 

We made some recordings where Kathrin and Quentin played at the same time, which was really interesting - I love the way you can hear Kathrin and Quentin almost talking to each other during the track, they sort of imitate and bounce off each other as they go along. They were having a lot of fun during the recordings and I think it comes through.

The fun we were having making the recordings was aided by the fact that Gearbox records (who are releasing the EP 6th Oct on vinyl, and 3rd Nov on digital) had provided Mark Ronson's recording studio for us to work in, so it was a pleasure all round.

There are 3 more tracks to come from the release, 2 ambient, and one absolute abomination where I wanted to see what would happen if I made the most f*&ked up track I could and then asked them to improvise over it - more clips and info coming soon.

If you want to catch Quentin Collins playing, he does regular gigs in London at Ronnie Scotts, amongst other places. And Kathrin deBoer has also launched a new solo project under her name, which is also touring and highly recommended.

Halle’s dynamic duo, Monkey Safari return to their beloved Hommage imprint after being away from the label for more then a year. With their beautifully crafted “Cranes” release they will surely make up for their long absence in a big way. Even looking at the names of the remixers in charge will leave every music lover very excited.

“Cranes” takes it’s time before introducing the bass drum, a bit more then two minutes to be exact. Monkey Safari get you in the mood with laid back, morphing spheric sounds and teasing percussion. The heavenly, slightly pitched down vocal will trigger a whole array of emotions before the journey even begins. Acoustic sounds combined with sleek piano chords and well placed break downs will make “Cranes” stay in your favorites list for months to come.

Everybody’s darling Kölsch is presenting the first remix. Kölsch is changing up the low frequencies as he adds layers of synthesizer progressions and a heavier bass drum. Sharp percussion and saw tooth sounds are drilling themselves through over ten minutes of musical bliss, but always leave enough space for the vocal to breath. 

Wolf + Lamb are closing out the release with their funk injected version. The lively acoustic drum programming breathes a different life into the track and takes it to a whole nother level. They provide “Cranes” with an overall more uplifting feel.

The 41st release on Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital sees the debut of legendary DJ and promoter Freddy Be.  A genuine staple in LA, Freddy has been delivering great music and first-rate events on the west coast since the early 90's.  From the legendary Monday Social parties, which celebrates its 20th year as North America's longest running weekly house music event, to his awe-inspiring Earthdance festivals ('97-'03), his tireless efforts have been instrumental in defining the progress of Southern California's dance music culture.

His exceptional track selection and expertly paced sets have allowed him to land residencies at Exchange LA, Audio SF, and Sound Nightclub, as well as tour across the nation to perform at major festivals including Coachella, Desert Hearts, BPM, and Minus Zero.

In addition to DJing, Freddy Be's productions have led him to collaborations with various well known LA based producers including Trent Cantrelle, DAVI, and Freaky Chakra.  His hypnotic Tech House productions have already been playlisted by Carl Cox, Hernan Cattaneo, James Zabiela, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Quivver, and John Digweed on his massively popular ‘Transitions' radio show.  2016 will be another strong year with the release of his track ‘Holding Back' including remixes by Betoko, Soul Trader, and Deep Tribe featuring Violin Girl.

The first remix of ‘Holding Back' is by Betoko, who transforms the dreamy original into a high-energy rollercoaster and peak-time bomb.  The London based, Mexican born producer boasts a highly esteemed back catalog on labels such as Get Physical, Diynamic, Suara, Kittball, and Supernature.  His music has been licensed for use on popular TV shows, ad campaigns, and is regularly supported by some of the world's biggest DJ's.  Betoko's infectious sounds have been heard at pretty much every top club and festival in the world where he has played B2B sets with DJ's like Sasha and Nick Warren.

Little is known about Soul Trader aside from the limited info his mentor and cohort Funkagenda has released.  His deep, throbbing techno influenced sounds have already begun making waves with remixes for Quivver, Deep Tribe, and a spectacular debut EP on Incorrect Music.  We may not know much about this shadowy figure but we do know that he's going to go far.  Soul Trader's remix of ‘Holding Back' hits hard, and we have no doubt this track will tear up the dancefloor and maybe even bring down the walls.

The third and final remix is by LA duo Deep Tribe featuring Violin Girl.  Though they've both had success in the dance music industry under various pseudonyms, Dimitry Rozental and Andrew Knopf have finally found their niche as Deep Tribe, fusing unique influences to craft a solid catalog of House and Techno music.  With a steady stream of releases on labels such as Wulfpack and Perfect Driver, Deep Tribe are quickly becoming an unshakeable force in the world of dance music production.  Their heavily brooding, emotional remix of ‘Holding Back' is guaranteed to cut straight to the heart.

The original versions of this track were released in the summer of 2015, to celebrate Asymmetric's 100th release, and reached Beatport Top 20 Electronica chart, and now lands once again in time for this summer with three fresh new remixes.
Sound Avenue boss Madloch is next, and takes things deeper and hypnotic, but still with plenty of drive and utilises the melodics superbly, and this winner builds nicely.

Label owner, Jelly For The Babies, snaps out his first release on One Of A Kind! "Venus" is track that lies right in between boarders of deep and progressive house. Melodic, mystic and groovey at the same time. Original is followed by two remarkable remixes. Lad with the unique production style, signing and releasing music on worldwide labels such as Anjunadeep, Dopamine Music, Mango Alley and many others, Kobana, focused his remix more on bassline and groove, which makes his remix clubby and perfect for dance floors! On second remix duty we have established Turkish producer, Erdi Irmak who did great job where he shows that the right progressive house is slowly going back to it's roots.
