Astral projection (or astral travel) is an interpretation of an out-of-body experience (OBE) that assumes the existence of an "astral body" separate from the physical body and capable of travelling outside it. Astral projection or travel denotes the astral body leaving the physical body to travel in an astral plane. The idea of astral travel is rooted in common worldwide religious accounts of the afterlife in which the consciousness' or soul's journey or "ascent" is described in such terms as "an... out-of body experience, wherein the spiritual traveller leaves the physical body and travels in his/her subtle body (or dreambody or astral body) into ‘higher’ realms. It is frequently reported in association with dreams, and forms of meditation.

Patients have reported feelings similar to the descriptions of astral projection induced through various hallucinogenic and hypnotic (including self-hypnotic) means. There is no scientific evidence that there is any measurable manifestation of a consciousness or soul which is separate from neural activity, and there is no scientific evidence for the contention that one can consciously leave the body and make observations. Attempts to verify that such has occurred have consistently failed in spite of the variety of pseudoscientific claims to the contrary.

I'm really excited to bring you this remix album - I was lucky to get many of my favourite producers in the world involved in the project, and they have delivered an amazing range of music, it's a bit silly actually, how good this release is!

I was originally planning to separate it out into several releases, but when I brought all the remixes together I realised it could make an LP of it's own. I tried to order the tracks to provide some flow in this respect, from the beautiful ambience and downtempo sounds of Christian Löffler and Tom Hodge, to Rival Consoles brooding synth epic, into Vessels Aside broken melodic club track, Kimyan Law's beautifully detailed jungle break masterpiece, Patrice Baumel's massive techno remix, Ash Koosha's twisted electronica vision of Kathrin de Boerr, JoeFarr's apocalyptic darkroom disaster, John Tejada's melodic analogue beauties to wind down a little, and Hidden Orchestra's symmetrically structured huge ebb and flow remix of Symmetry to close. So much great work in there, I hope you have time to listen through and enjoy it as much as I do! One of my first edits from my library of found sounds: "Relaxing Rain and Loud Thunder" is designed as a brief intro into my perspective on contemporary field recording. This is actually a few different storms, recorded in different times in various places piled up on top of each other to create a uniquely soothing three and a half minutes.
