This is the track for my first single as a singer/songwriter entitled "Inner Child". It is a song about loss of innocence and involved more than 30 Berklee students in its making. 

Inner Child

Born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, México on May 19th of 1988, Jose Ramiro Madrid Sanchez began his exposure to music when he was in his mother’s womb. It was in that medium that his parents, Jose Ramiro Madrid Franco and Mely Sanchez de Madrid, would often play classical music to stimulate his sensibility. Once he was born, he began proper piano private instructions at the age of 4 with the teacher Yolanda Galindo. It was at that early age that different audiences began noticing his musical sensibility and his ability to play classical music effortlessly. He kept taking private lessons until the age of 12, when he decided to quit piano for a while to seek other types of art. 
It was on that period of time between being 12 and 17 years old when he began to immerse himself in other art forms to be able to find his way of expression. During that time he took acting classes with teachers such as Hector Monge and Jorge Cazares, as well as singing lessons in the “Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey” (ITESM), with the vocal coaches Mario Kontos and Ernesto Organista. 
While trying to find his voice, Jose Madrid decided to join several local bands to make his musical palette even bigger. It was at that time when he joined the latin fusion band “Los Plebes” where he functioned as a keyboard player, and the Black Metal band “Dark Zaga”, where he played keyboards and wrote music as well. Playing constantly with those bands, as well as playing his own composition “Una Cancion de Amor Taciturna” in the ITESM “Festival de la canción” in the year of 2005, was what made him consider a career in music making. Having faced this difficult crossroad in his life, and after a long conversation with this father, he decided to enroll for one year in both music schools of his city as a piano performance and choral singing major and to go to Berklee College of Music in the summer of 2007 for the “Five Week Performance” program. 
That year changed his life, since, now he knew how a music education felt like and how competitive and amazing the outside world was. When he came back from Boston, he decided to earn a Bachelor’s in International Business in the ITESM, and to keep studying piano performance and choral singing in just one music school, that being the “Escuela Superior de Musica del Estado”. 
During those years from 2007 to 2011, Jose Madrid worked on earning a Bachelor’s, and at the same time, performed classical piano works many times in the different theaters of the city of Culiacan. To mention a few, he played in a concert dedicated to Chopin’s Birthday in the theater “Socorro Axtol”, and also played a solo piano concert on the city of “Pericos” in the house of culture “Casa Peiro”. Despite all that, the thing that he loved the most was writing songs, and that reflected on the two times he participated in the “Festival de la Canción” of the ITESM, where in the 2007 presentation he won second place, and the prizes for Best Male Performance. In the second round of that contest, which was in the city of Colima, México, he won a prize for the best musician of the night. In the 2008 presentation he won the prizes of Best Male Performance, Best lyrics and Best Music Arrangement. Inspired by the good response that his songs had gotten in the contests, he continued working on more compositions until the moment he had waited arrived. 
By a message from his father, he found about a competition that was held by the “Sociedad General de Autores y Editores” (SGAE), in which you had to send some of your original compositions to be able to be selected to win an opportunity to audition for a full scholarship at Berklee College of Music. Jose Madrid sent his work, and to his luck, he got selected to audition. Once he went to Mexico City and audition, he got a scholarhip offer by Berklee to study a Bachelor’s in music. Exited that an institution of the importance of Berklee recognized his work, he decided to finish his Bachelor in International Business early by taking extra credits to be able to embark on that new adventure. Nevertheless, before leaving to Boston, he was awarded with one of the yearly scholarships that the government of the State of Sinaloa gives through the “Fondo de Estímulos A La Creación Artística”. 
Jose Madrid now resides in Boston where he is finishing a Bachelor’s in Music Production And Engineering. During his stay in Boston he has written, played and learned so much from the creative environment that Berklee is, and he is still looking to find his own original voice through music. Some of the work he has done while being at Berklee comprises being part of the “Video Game Music Choir”, as well as being a singer and the sound engineer of the “Audire” film and soundtrack choir. He has performed as a singer and a pianist in several recitals with other people as well as had his songs featured in concerts such as the “Curtain Up” competition. 
Jose Madrid is now preparing for a series of concerts he wants to give in Boston to demonstrate some of his composition, singing and piano playing techniques, as well as to find a way to spill his life and voice through his music.
