Arranged by Yina Hurtado and Jose L. Hurtado, members of Kuyayky, an Andean band from Jauja, Perú, now based in the USA, this piece reflects their dedication to preserving and promoting Andean culture. Kuyayky is not only a band but also a foundation focused on the research, development, and celebration of Andean traditions. "La Despedida," a traditional Yaraví (a style of Andean music), has been released under various titles, including "La Despedida," "El Destino," "La Partida," and "Ya Me Voy a Tierras Lejanas." Early recordings of different versions of this song, dating back to the early 1900s by various Peruvian artists, have made it an important part of Peru's musical heritage.
