@la-mverte releases his new EP 'Alchemy Calls' and simultaneously inaugurates his recently founded label Les Enfers, of which this record is the first release. 

With 'Alchemy Calls', La Mverte once again pushes the door of the club that have been closed for too long. Composed of three tracks and enriched with two remixes, the record proposes a
progression in three phases, following the alchemical process at the base of the Great Work (GW) and the quest for the philosopher's stone. A true cathartic experience in the time of crisis, the production of the EP was therapeutic, an unexpected way to find the club and night atmospheres that were so much missed. On 'Nigredo', La Mverte summons certain codes of Detroit electro and explores them through the prism of his influences and his machines. He invites Jean-Christophe Couderc from the band Vox Low on vocals, who tackles the Blackness, the first stage of the GW, but also the confrontation with one's own demons as theorized by Carl Jung.

The tracks of the EP are also offered 2 remixes. @javi-redondo, a regular on the Correspondant and Dischi Autunno labels, offers a fundamentally club and motoric re-reading of 'Nigredo', and Aggelos Baltas, alias Anatolian Weapons, delivers a version of 'Albedo' tinged with slowed-down Ttrance, as one might hear in a set by Vladimir Ivkovic of the Salon des Amateurs.

Barcelona producers Velmondo (Hivern Discs) and Priorat have teamed up with Chicken Lips singer Jonny Spencer for an EP of deviant, darkly surreal and thoroughly epic house music, including the long-awaited release of Andrew Weatherall favourite ‘Dragging In The Mud’.

The EP, which will be released on Munich’s Compost Records (Compost Disco), comprises two original tracks from Velmondo - known for his work on John Talabot’s Hivern Discs - and young producer Priorat, who debuted on the compilation Hivernation from the same label. The release includes ‘Dragging In The Mud’, which Weatherall played on his last NTS radio show before the much-loved DJ and producer’s tragic death.

Both original tracks feature debauched disco not disco beats, astral effects and production as deep as a Pacific trench, to which Spencer adds quirky spoken word vocals, pushing the music out to newly twisted and spaced-out plains. Absolutely essential for fans of Liquid Liquid,
Liaisons Dangereuses or Suicide.

The EP is completed with remixes by Barcelona’s Marc Piñol and Swiss duo In Flagranti. It will be released by Compost Disco on vinyl (12”) and digital on October 15th 2021.

Velmondo & Priorat - Dragging In The Dub (Marc Piñol Remix) [Compost]

After his appearance on compilation Pals Volume 5 earlier this year, Chilean, talented producer Aural Trace aka Manuel Ortuzar, returns to Play Pal with 'Die Blaue Stunde', stepping aside from his work with
production duo Random Atlas, to release an EP that examines themes which stretch from late night anxieties to metamorphosis and change.
Title track, 'Die Blaue Stunde' and 'Expectations' both navigate a high tempo route straight through the aural receptors into the centre of the imagination, with a magic that Manuel is fast becoming
known for, while 'Transmutación' treads a slower, more serene, yet tension laden path.
The three original tracks are complimented by remixes direct from the minds of Play Pal's dearest, with Niv Ast ramping 'Die Blaue Stunde' way up the pH scale, Cabizbajo, hot-wiring 'Expectations' before taking it on a joyride through the peaktime hours and Play Pal's head honcho Teniente Castillo's reimagining of 'Transmutación', which adds an ethereal yet driving quality to the proceedings, keeping pace with the cinematic feel of the original while warping it into a different kind of ride

Lehar’s Italo Vanguardista re-work is pure energy! A steadily pounding 80ies synth arpeggio infused house tune, smoothly blending Illinois vocals, made to heat up and uplift dancefloors of all sizes. Lehar puts it all in a nutshell as expected.

Lehar’s aestethic categories of the sublimity and beauty of nature find their roots in Romanticism. As you may notice while listening to Lehar’s music compositions, intuition and emotion are the basis of his creative process, finally resulting in a near impromptu. Lehar’s debut EP ‘Sargas’ on Offenbach imprint Connaisseur Recordings has put him on the map of modern electronic music and represents his artistic manifesto: a mixture of sounds and atmospheres of dramatic effects characterized by intimate basslines and intriguing melodies.
Lehar’s EP ”Magic Realism” on Diynamic Music, the indie single ”Number One Hero” featuring Rush Midnight on 2DIY4, his contribution to the “10 Years of Diynamic” album celebration, his mini album “Picture” released in October 2017 on Diynamic Music, as well as the “Penta EP” he released on his own imprint in 2018, have consolidated his reputation as a producer.

Thanks to the active work on the remix side and few collaborations with Musumeci, Lehar’s music also appears on Compost Black Label, Endless, My Favorite Robot, Mood Music and Lost & Found.
Lehar’s emotional DJ sets reflect his approach to life: spontaneous and passionate. Aiming to create a night to return to his musical roots as close as possible, Lehar has designed and built his first ”All Through The Night” tour.

In 2018 he, together with Musumeci and Olderic, created the label Multinotes. In the same year he and Musumeci presented a new concept for a one night event called MUSE, in 2019 they had their own summer residency at Heart Club in Ibiza.

Lehar is a bounds free creative fantasy that, just like the music that it represents, belongs to the world.

It looked like a normal night under the stars.
In the forest clearing, people were building the stage and setting up the scenery for midnight's big rave.

Alice came to dance but arrived too early to the party.
While she was sitting outside the camp she saw a funky monkey jumping right in front of her.She heard a whisper but wasn't sure, so she started to follow the little monkey.

Out of the blue she fell down, or was she climbing up?
It all ended very quickly and, to her surprise, nothing seemed to changed around her. On her way back to the camp she started to hear dark, psychedelic electronic music. Very quietly she could hear a mantra saying “Petit Monde... Petit Monde..”

She was drawn to the intoxicated voices.
As she arrived, she was shocked to find the camp was full of people, all standing still in front of the DJ booth and humming the mantra.
Slowly she walked inside. People cleared the way for her to pass all the way to the DJ. Suddenly a strong light appeared, and the DJ pointed out at her and shouted- Danse Alice!!
And the party started.

'The first release of 2023 on Damon Jee’s imprint Dust & Blood comes by French duo Kimshies and once again, the guys show what they can do best, explosive indie dance and dark disco for the dancefloor.

Long-time friends and collaborators Peo Watson and Mika Frojman have returned with the latest in a string of releases following their reunion in 2018. After a twelve-year break, the French duo decided to team up again when their 2004 undercover vinyl only tune was brought back into the limelight during one of Solomun’s sets. Since their rebirth, they’ve more than made up for lost time with powerful releases on exclusive labels such as Aeon, Duro and Ombra. Their new offering ‘Blue Planet’ is an intricate and futuristic five-tracker that showcases their unique technical talent and eclectic influences.

The sci-fi-inspired title track invites the listener to dive in head first, setting the tone with its ebb and flow of intricately wrought layers. Urgent stabs combine with a relentless beat and distorted, echoing whispers in a surreal fever dream.

‘Cortex Five Senses’ then brings a retro touch with its driving synth line and unpredictable sound, building up into an explosion of tension as seductive yet almost pleading vocals bleed into each other in a desperate dialogue.

It’s followed by ‘Trapped’ (featuring Erick Faulkner), an intense track that evokes a feeling of unrest and panic with ominous lyrics backed by an aggressive rhythm and urgent sirens.

The electric and evocative ‘Cowboys Don’t Cry’ switches up the vibe with hypnotic riffs straight out of a classic Western movie and a heady, electrifying bassline that runs throughout, perfectly underlining the enigmatic female vocals.

The release wraps up with ‘Coming Out’, an eerie stomper of a track that takes the listener into unfamiliar territory, with distant, almost robotic voices seeping through looming alien sounds and a hard beat.
This unpredictable EP never releases its grip, masterfully building tension from the get-go to leave you breathless and wanting more. Set to be released on April 7th via Damon Jee’s uncompromising and cosmic Dust & Blood imprint.'

Petra Zieger is a name most of you are probably not familiar with. She comes from Erfurt (just a stone's throw away from our hometown Jena) and was very successful in the GDR since the 1980s. First as the lead singer of a rock band, then as a solo artist.

In her song "Du kommst nicht in mein Bett" ("you do not come into my bed") (1983) she humorously describes a man's desperate attempts to make eyes at her.

@kokolja digs this classic out of his parents' record collection and brings it back to the dancefloors with his modern downtempo interpretation.

In 2021, Italoconnection, the partnership of Fred Ventura and Paolo Gozetti, released Midnight Confessions Vol 1. Three years on, the awaited second volume has arrived. All of the analogue emotion that characterised the first collection is present from the outset, warm throbs of bass coupled with clean melodies in “The Wait”. Smoky lyrics permeate the nine track album, the unmistakable timbre of Ventura’s voice recanting tales of optimistic encounters and lost love. As with the 2021 release, collaborations with fellow italo romantics are peppered throughout. Francesca Gastaldi returns to work with Italoconnection once again. Having featured on their Humanize EP, Gastaldi’s vibrant voice shines through the smouldering synthlines and robust beats of “Live Forever”. Jaia Sowden takes centre stage for “Just Like Water”. A story of discontent and disconnect is sang over bittersweet keys as eastern undercurrents flow. Contemporary commentary is intertwined with undulating melodies and distant lyrics in “Cold War Lovers”, a cold wave edge cutting through the sounds and words of “Systematic”. The dancefloor surfaces throughout the record. Bodies are pulled tight by the bold and bright bars of “Why” before drifting apart in the lovelorn lamentations of “Lover 2 Lover”. “Europa” pays homage to the machine music of the continent as a litany of influences are drawn upon . The title piece closes. A fragile drum pattern is bolstered by cascading chords, piano notes sailing alongside words by Gastaldi and Ventura. Welcome confessions from musicians who live and breath the synthesizer traditions of Italy.

Ransom Note Records are psyched to welcome the mighty Rupert Cross back to the fold with a brand, spanking new record, in the form of Strapped Out EP. Featuring the inimitable vocal talents of R$N stalwart & interdisciplinary creator C.A.R., Cross and Raunet have supplied an assemblage of devastatingly raucous tracks that will have you bouncing off the walls, floors, ceilings and fellow club goers corporeal bodies.

Eponymous track Strapped Out is first out of the gate, immediately setting the scene. Mechanical polyrhythms intertwine, falling into an automatic groove of impulsive contortions. In juxtaposition, C.A.R. lends some humanity to proceedings with a vocal performance that seems cooly spontaneous, but a little investigation reveals Chloe’s trademark lyrical wisdom. Fair weather dancers beware!

Next up, Blue Line takes some of the same ingredients, but adds a pinch of Moroder (if he was a Goth) and a generous splash of Post-Punk riotousness. A rolling, Disco Chuggathon, its slight melancholy creates an addictive listening experience. Best enjoyed poured over a 3am dance floor in a sweaty, low ceilinged club.

Pepper provides some respite from the machine funk onslaught.. but only slightly. A lethal stab of bass lunges forth from the speakers and collides with the solar plexus. Once we regain our breathe, we realise that we’re immersed in an anxiety tank, with dissonant, staccato plinks and plonks darting back and forth between ours ears. The feeling of existential suffocation has never been so pleasantly welcome.

Dreamland, Dreamland’s warpy warpy intro prefaces a jolly excursion into a theme park for machines. Fun and levity are on offer in abundance, but all must conform to the mechanical overlords. Stepping outside of the strictly gridded lines is forbidden, as we bowl along the automaton highway, greedily imbibing everything on offer.

Lastly Miles Vandersteen remixes Strapped Out, somehow upping the J.G. Ballard vibes with distorted, metallic blasts & rote drum patterns. If the original was built with the purpose of obliterating the dance floor, then this extended version aims to take down the whole club and the surrounding buildings to boot. A weapon of truly epic proportions, this is a timely reminder that humanity should consider carefully what munitions we choose to develop. “Now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds”.

PREMIERE: Rupert Cross - Strapped Out feat. C.A.R. [Ransom Note Records]

The German producer @KikeamRadar returns to @DogsAndVulturesRecords, this time with 'Testament', a ray of light that  manages to keep us afloat through the cold and lack of sun . In his latest work he has managed to take his music to another level, more narrative, reflective and intimate, mixing different influences using old and new synthesizers and analog drum machines and combining them with plug-ins and digital effects.

Acclaimed French band @VoxLow takes on 'In Troubled Times' and really make it their own, in a way only they can . Elegant in its own unique right it takes the original to even higher levels with their trademark bass. We're sure this one's going to have lasting appeal and a track you'll be hearing much more of.

The  EP is completed with other excellent remixes from Nozz and  Montcosmik.
