Just playing around for the first time with Ilio The MINT sounds for Omnisphere 2, on Logic Pro X. This composition is called Cyber Jungle.
For the cover image, I'm attaching a snapshot of the Logic timeline including names of the patches I used. The MINT patches were created by Mike Babbitt and are lots of fun to use in production.

Quick demo track of my new DSI Mopho synthesizer. Everything is the Mopho, polyphonic parts were recorded in seperate note layers. The BD and HH were programmed by me, the rest are presets. This is really a great little synth with a monster sound that has a wide range of timbral possibilities.

I wrote this piece as an answer to the internal questions we’ve all asked at one point or another, “Am I okay? Will I be okay?” It’s about the nature and feeling of those questions.

I am in the middle of working on a Christmas album that will be finished and available in Fall on 2011. So far, I've completed six arrangements including Silent Night, The First Noel, O Holy Night, What Child is This, Oh Come Emmanuel and Jingle Bells. The latter is a joyful, playful boogie-woogie number reminiscent of the pianist Vince Guaraldi (Charlie Brown) and reflects all those nights I played in Tennessee honky-tonks as a youth.

Joseph Akins blends his roots with a variety of musical styles to create a sound that is recognizable and noted in today’s contemporary solo piano genre. To date, he has released four solo piano albums. The most recent, A Southern Sun, made the Top 30 Favorites of 2013 at MainlyPiano.com and was nominated for Album of the Year at Enlightened Piano Radio. His holiday album, A Piano Christmas, was nominated for Best Holiday Album of Year 2011 at SoloPiano.com, and in 2009, Spirit Touch, was awarded as one of the Top 30 Favorites of the Year and Top 40 Albums of the Decade at MainlyPiano.com. In 2014, “Masterpeace” (the title track from the 2007 album Masterpeace) was listed in the 50 Best Piano Songs of All Time at Reviews New Age. His music is continually heard on radio stations such as Pandora and Whisperings Solo Piano Radio.

Joseph’s music career began as a keyboard and saxophone player for country-rock, pop and jazz bands, but most of his engagements these days are intimate performances of his original piano music at homes, recital halls, churches and similar settings. In addition to being an active performer and composer, he is an award-winning associate professor of recording industry at Middle Tennessee State University where he teaches courses in music production. He holds bachelor and master’s degrees in music and a doctorate in education from the University of Tennessee, Radford University, Middle Tennessee State University and Tennessee State University.

Music has always been my place when words failed…the purest extension of who I am. Every note I write comes from the deepest parts of me, woven with love, joy, loss, and the rawness of grief. For years, I hid behind my emotions, masking them in my music, but I’ve finally found the courage to be unapologetically honest — to let it all flow, unfiltered and real.

Since I was 11, I’ve dreamed of composing, conducting, and performing with an orchestra. For a while, I stepped aside, pouring my energy into helping other artists grow, becoming a mum, building my skills, and supporting my gentle vision. I feel grateful! It’s my turn to step into my own truth, fully and fearlessly.

Every single day, I feel grateful to live this passion — it’s my fire, my purpose, and my love. And now, I can’t wait to share it with you and hear how it makes  ‘you’ feel. This is just the beginning.
