The Lord gave gifts to the churches,
Precious saints who love the Lord.
First apostles and prophets,
Speaking forth Christ as the word!
Then He gave some gifts as evangelists,
Who proclaim the gospel of Christ!
There are shepherd-teachers, feeding the saints.
But Lord, who am I?

 
Lord, I’m ready and willing to be perfected by You,
Through the saints all around me, to build Your Body too!

Lord, I feel I’m unable to do what others can do.
As I look all around me, they all seem more useful to You.
But I see, dear Lord, I‘m here for Your need,
To build up Your church today!
And You gave these gifts that I may be trained,
Lord, perfect me, I pray!

In the church I’m perfected by the saints with the life supply.
I am growing and building, as I learn to minister Christ!
“Till we all arrive,” yes, this is our goal!
Every member builds today!
Lord, I give myself, Your Body to build.
Lord, for this now I pray!

Lord, Sanctify Me in the Truth

Written after the Semiannual Training on Jeremiah

	Our God’s a Fountain
	The ever-flowing One.
	And His compassions come rising with the Sun.
	It’s on His word we feed; He’s everything we need.
	Nothing compares to our God!

Though we are like Israel, unfaithful and unclean, 
Though there might be countless things us and God between, 
Even in His grief or wrath, whene’er we turn to Him,
He will never fail to give His loving compassion.
	Our God is loving,
	So He will not condemn
	When we repent and come running back to Him
	Oh how His heart does yearn that we our hearts would turn
	Praise Him for His tender love!

Our whole being thirsts for Him, each moment, every day
We need the Spirit’s filling, we’re simply made this way;
Broken cisterns will not do: they simply leave us dead.
Eternity within our hearts is longing for the fountainhead.
	Come to the Fountain
	That’s springing from within,
	And let it flood you and fill you to the brim!
	The cisterns will run dry, but not our Christ’s supply!
        Praise Him, the fountain of life!

How we need to find His Word and take it as our food
Not only to have a taste, but masticate and chew.
When we take it in this way, our heart’s delight it is;
It constitutes our inward parts and makes our person more like His.
	Lord Jesus, fill us
	And feed us with Your words
	That joy and praise from our being might be heard!
	Oh may Your words be found and in our heart abound:
	Keep bringing us to Your Word.

Every kind of suffering is in His sovereign hand
We cannot but praise Him for His sovereign plan
Shall the vessel say to God, “Why did You make me thus?”
His ways are higher than our ways, praise Him for His mercy because...
	He’s ever faithful
	To mold us as the clay
	To purify us, His glory to display
	May every waking hour be more yield to His power
	Vessels of honor He’ll gain.

“I will give you shepherds, according to My own heart,
Knowledge, understanding as food will they impart”
Overseer of our souls, He shepherds from above;
Our tenderhearted, sovereign God will meet our every need in love.
	Great is our Shepherd!
	And sweet His sovereign hand
	To lead and guide us to feed upon the land.
	He shepherds our heart first
	To quench another’s thirst,
	That we may all shepherds be.

	How great our God is!
	So how can we detail
	His vast dimensions; our words will simply fail.
	But as the many sons, we gain this endless One.
	Praise Him! He’s all that we need!
	How great our God is indeed!
