No Way But Forward

Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer has always been one my favorite paragons of a truly masterful and successful film score composer. His music is so intensely personal and seems to speak to the individual. Having recently finished an online master musicians course taught by Zimmer himself, I can honestly say his work and words have opened my mind to a whole new world of sound and song.

Dunkirk was perhaps Zimmer’s most notably recent score. The movie is dealing with time in interesting ways, an aspect of the film musically exemplified by the pocket watch ticking, the Shepard tone, and an ambient texture to the music. That being said, here is my own composition utilizing some of those very same sounds and soundscapes heard repeatedly in Dunkirk.
