Enamour masterfully stepped into the XYZ fold earlier this year with his debut EP - Forget Your Name. He’s a producer at the forefront of sensational soundscapes with no boundary of range: his productions infuse the dreamy melodies of deep house, the potent power of progressive house, and the smoldering momentum of dark techno.

The rising Boston-based duo Warung partnered with Enamour on the project’s A-side, and the studio understanding between the east-coast collective summoned a magical result. Forget Your Name was met with raucous applause & support across the melodic scene. We now revisit the release with a fresh perspective as the darker months come into sight, and the return of worldwide club life is in full effect. XYZ stalwarts Esteble are back at it again! Anyone following the imprint throughout the years will know just how talented these flying Dutchmen are. They’ve produced some of the most essential XYZ material to date, while also cementing their distinct sound on the likes of Do Not Sit, Laut & Luise, and Anjunadeep. We couldn’t be happier to have them back in the driver’s seat, as they dive deep with their Behind the Mirage remix. Esteble harnesses the instrumental for an ominous & moody affair, sourcing searching synths and elevating echoes with psychedelic flavor.

We are back with the second part of our series „Quantum Spits“ to highlight the unique qualities of sub-genres and showcase the incredible talent within the house music universe.

Nandu joined forces with the Danish pop-vocalist Ida Corr to present a blend of deep, soulful, and rhythmic house music. Drawing inspiration from rhythms and distinctive sounds that defined the era of the 90s and early 2000s — think the vibes of producers like Kerri Chandler and Denis Ferrer — Nandu and Ida skillfully infused their own signature touch, creating a stellar Release.

"Tell Me" and "Around" are without doubt the lead tracks and the centerpieces of the release. Two perfect blends of what we love about house music, hunting instrumentals highlighted by standout vocal performances from Ida Corr. Both tunes take center stage in Dixon's sets in 2023. Aligned by Dixon’s Re-structure Edit of “Around” and the track “Wasted”, the EP is one of our highlights of the year.

The title track „Feary Tale“ kicks off the EP. A deep vocal-driven catcher with organic drum elements that builds a hypnotic drive through the entire track. "Irie" grabs hold of this energy, keeping it with a flowing rhythm and sample pieces that set the perfect vibe for the EP. Closing out the journey, the track „Paradise Arpeggio“ is based on the musical term for a chord where notes don't hit all at once but instead come in quick succession. Enjoy the ride.

For the past few years, Joseph Ashworth has crafted a unique sound in house and techno, blending gritty honesty with an experimental, melodic edge. His acclaimed releases on labels like Life & Death and Get Weird have earned him a dedicated fanbase and support from industry giants like Lee Burridge and DJ Tennis. Known for his versatile and exciting DJ sets, Joseph has played at CRSSD Festival, Printworks, and toured the Far East and North America.

Joseph Ashworth’s “Boa / Searching” EP delivers a diverse range of electronic tracks perfect for various moods and settings. The first track, “Boa,” is pumping and full of percussive beats, making it ideal for igniting the party atmosphere. The second track, “Searching,” is a bit more chill with groovy piano elements, providing a laid-back yet engaging vibe. “Python,” the third track, starts off with an absent, minimalistic sound that gradually gets bassy, creating a unique and evolving listening experience. Finally, “Heihachi” offers a darker, synth-driven sound, perfect for adding a moody intensity to any playlist.

Over the course of 150 releases, Canadian label My Favorite Robot Records has established itself as one of electronic music’s key imprints. Their latest is another special offering of well sculpted club sounds that come from the talented Fairmont.

Jake Fairley aka Fairmont is an electronic music producer, live performer and DJ from Toronto, Canada, who has put out three albums, the last of which came on this label in 2012. His artful EPs have come on labels like Border Community, Days of Being Wild and his own Beachcoma imprint as well of course on his home from home, My Favorite Robot Records. Out of the studio Fairley has long held a reputation as an impressive live performer and is currently in the process of putting together a new show. This brand new show will feature hardware he has built himself from studio components, encased in perspex and lit up like the setting sun; expect something special, part live show, part art installation!

This latest release opens with the compelling ‘Carthage’ a track built around lush layers of supple and reflective synths. Big bass broods below and the effect is trance inducing and serene. At eight minute long this epic piece of work never outstays its welcome and instead just lulls you deeper under its electronic spell.

Next up, ‘Loose Teeth’ is another elongated track that progressively builds and builds in exquisite fashion with Sasha-esque synths bubbling away. It’s widescreen and intergalactic and full of class. Last of all, this transcendental synth trip concludes with the gorgeous ‘With Closed Eyes.’ Landing almost fully formed, it is slick and sleek electronic music with long tailed pads, carefully decaying synth lines and a kinetic sense of energy with whispered vocals up top.

Spine tingling and sure to take any DJ set to the next level, this is a sublime trio of tracks from Fairmont and MFR and sets the stage perfectly for the live show to come.

Writing this text right now feels awkward. When we received this demo in late 2019, pictures of people dancing barefoot on soft grass at picturesque open-airs unfolded before our inner eyes, as for us, Blindsmyth’s "Gryllidae“ represents the quintessential summer track. 

But now, late in March 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic is in full effect. Currently, we don’t know if a single open-air or festival can take place this summer or if we will be able to enjoy the season the way we are used to, at all. However, this major uncertainty is no reason for us to change our release plans, as even if our activities will probably be limited this summer, "Gryllidae“ will still be your friendly companion. The beauty of this track is its ultimate easiness, even though it is full of edgy moments and elements. It is a very unique composition, motivating you to listen to it over and over again, discovering something new every time. 

Berlin-based Blindsmyth, who has shone before with releases on Diynamic and Cosmic Society, was able to create something with "Gryllidae“, which many producers often try to achieve, but mostly fail: Perpetuating the feeling of summer with a piece of music.
