Afro house duo Frigid Armadillo join esteemed SA icon Sun-El Musician for ‘Sunshine’ on Defected. Known for their breakout track, ‘Roam In A Day’, which was supported heavily by Black Coffee, as well as ‘Yara’ more recently with Francis Mercier, Frigid Armadillo have quickly established themselves as ones to watch. Continuing their rise to the top, they join forces with one of SA’s hottest artists Sun-El Musician, whose extreme popularity in his home country is not to be underestimated. Long-time friend of Defected Ferreck Dawn returns with ‘Make Me Weak’, featuring vocals from Caroline Byrne. A Dutch powerhouse who in 2024 played for the London label at Wembley’s OVO Arena, the summer season at Ushuaïa Ibiza, its flagship festival in Croatia and world tour stop in Toulouse, Ferreck continues to rep Defected on an international level - now preparing for the label’s season at Pacha Ibiza. His busy touring schedule was matched by his Defected output, working with Maverick Sabre, New Machine, GUZ, MEDUZA and Clementine Douglas on a string of tracks last year. Returning to the label in 2025, Ferreck collaborates with Caroline Byrne, a prolific dance music singer / songwriter who has previously featured on tracks with Gorgon City, Tudor, and TSHA. ‘Make Me Weak’ is a groovier, more synth-laden outing for Ferreck, spotlighting Caroline’s airy topline layered in harmony, creating a vocaloid-like effect that aligns perfectly with Ferreck’s signature, hard-hitting production.

Since previous label hits ‘I Want You’ with Butch and ‘Vente’ with Callussa, Nic Fanciulli has continued to nurture his Saved imprint, releasing ‘Set Me Free’ with Robert Courtois, a future club classic and five-week Beatport No.1 still receiving consistent club play nearly a year later. Continuing to build his relationship with Defected, 2025 will see Fanciulli play the label’s Pacha Ibiza residency and both flagship festivals in Croatia and Malta. For his anticipated Defected return, ‘Hold On’, Fanciulli collaborates with celebrated crossover artist Marc E. Bassy. House fans will recognise Marc’s buttery smooth vocals from Louie Vega and The Martinez Brother’s seminal Defected favourite ‘Let It Go’. ‘Hold On’ also places Marc’s precise yet smooth San Fran sway front and centre, combining with Nic Fanciulli’s cool, metropolitan production to create a soon-to-be summer smash for the modern age.

A fresh and summery collaboration arrives on Defected, as Grigoré, Serve Cold and Jaguar Jaguar deliver ‘Dancing’. Grigoré has risen to success producing and DJing across house and techno spheres, quickly earning him respect from world-class artists like Solomun, CamelPhat and Kevin de Vries. His work with frequent collaborator Serve Cold began with his third EP, Seasons, with the tracks channelling both artists’ melancholic and melodic sides. For their Defected debut, the pair unite with Belgian band Jaguar Jaguar, who share the producers’ spiritual aesthetic and talent for electronic music. Jaguar Jaguar’s blissed-out vocals contrast with Grigoré and Serve Cold’s harder production for an chic and dreamlike house outing, evoking blissed-out, open-air vibes just in time for summer. With catchy vocal hooks and deep synths combining in ecstasy, ‘Dancing’ is sure to make an impact for the incoming festival season and well beyond.
