[...] a comma marks our speaker’s desire for passage out of or beneath the avenues of the grid, the creek becoming a vehicle for that escape[...] But while the comma equates “me” with “creek,” person with thing, the sound of its shared and possessive “roar” echoes equally with the civic traffic on the avenue; the resulting binaural blur complicates any return to the original pastoral soundscape and questions the recall of sonic memory as if beyond or before the anaesthetic order and its subjects. "
