Following the release of the Chapters 1-4 trailer, I've decided to reboot my Future Chapters take (which you never saw much of anyway because I aborted it about the time I made this account). This is the new theme and head design for the Bishop, the boss Darkner of chapter 4.

Seeing as the real chapters are coming out in less than 2 months, I don't plan on doing much plot for this take. Other than the design, I haven't thought much about this guy yet. I was thinking today that his voice and personality might be based off Bishop Brennan from Father Ted? I just like making silly music and art, that's all.

Finally created a new Tenna theme to suit the official trailer design. I wanted it to sound like no Tenna theme I've heard before, so it's based off 1970s/80s library music rather than my usual UTDR community inspirations (Paddy Kingsland's album "Moogerama" goes so hard, you should totally listen to it).

It's a lot more upbeat and goofy than my previous take, where I wanted to sell the idea of Tenna being this manipulative creep who wants to destroy Kris's life out of sheer spite for them. He is still a bad guy though. He wants to keep the Lightners playing his games in the Dark World forever, so that they keep the Darkners entertained and distracted from questioning his authority.

OC and theme inspired by Toby's Lancer post from yesterday. Meet Mr Generosity, cousin of Mr Elegance and Mr Society. As his name implies, he's actually rather stingy and stuck-up (the chess pieces' personality traits are the opposite of their names, given that Elegance is a hick and Society is an outcast). That flag on top of his head is a sentient independent character, by the way.

Originally I made this as a Future Chapters thing and Generosity was going to be an ally of the Bishop in Chapter 4 (that's why my Bishop motif is in it). However, now I'm not so sure. I've been toying in my mind with the idea of a pre-Chapter 2-style Future Chapters AU for a while (it was what Nablarune was originally supposed to be before it morphed into a bad Deltaswap with OCs), so he might become a character in that? Just consider this a fun stand-alone idea for now.

Suddenly had a bunch of ideas for a reboot of Chapter Nosemashed a couple of weeks ago, scribbled down a bunch of sketches and this goofy little chiptune.

"Nosemash's DELTASWAP!" (the "!" is a distinctive part of the title and should never be written without it) is my new plan for a swap AU. The goal is to deviate from the Chapter Rewritten role swaps in order to be more distinctive (hence the name no longer having anything to do with it) and to have more of an emphasis on humour, which I think was lacking in my original AU. I have plenty of character and music ideas currently, but I'm waiting until June 4th to see what new ideas Chapters 3-4 might trigger before I make any hard decisions. Enjoy the funny music for now.

yeah so I started making this thing back in April but got tired of it really fast. The idea was to make a post-CREATIVE FREEDOM Camellia boss theme in my personal style. I tried finishing it a few times but enthusiasm is just gone. This is my (probably) final attempt from earlier this month. Thing I made as part of mastering practice (even though this upload itself has no mastering lol). Some of the harmonies are a bit off but I'd say it's accurate enough. Recreating your favourite tracks is a really good way to get better at making music, so long as it's legal.

[Traipsing their way through the thorns, Kris and Ralsei find themselves in front of a dilapidated, overgrown tower made of dull maroon stone. You make Kris approach its grand double doors.]

RALSEI:
*You want to go in by yourself, Kris?
*(…)
*Kris, I've been wanting to say this for a while, but I was afraid to say it in front of Susie…
*You've been doing this a lot, haven't you?
*Venturing off into the farthest corners of every Dark World to face its most dangerous challenge.
*That jester, that salesman, whatever you were doing backstage at the Green Room…
*You've always got to keep on pushing yourself.
*Putting yourself at risk.
*I mean, if that's what you want to do, I don't want to take your choice away!
*But every time you do it…
*I get scared that you might hurt yourself.
*I know that I shouldn't worry.
*The Prophecy says that you've still got life ahead of you.
*You're going to live to face the Knight and the Angel.
*But even then, it still makes me afraid.
*I know it's irrational, but it's how I feel.
*So I've got to ask you…
*Why?
*What drives you to keep taking these risks?

(Whatever you say, the cutscene still proceeds the same)

*That's okay, Kris.
*I feel a little more reassured now.
*Anyway, go ahead and open the door.

[The doors swing open, revealing a faint blue glow like that of the Prophecy panels. The music stops.]

*…!
*A Prophecy panel?!
*I thought that these only existed in the Sanctuary!
*I'm sorry, Kris, but I need to go ahead here.
*Make sure it's not anything that might upset you.

[Ralsei walks through the doors.]

*Wait, this isn't…

[The doors slam shut behind him and the shattering of glass is heard inside. Thick, thorny creepers suddenly engulf the door, barring Kris from entering and Ralsei from leaving.]

*KRIS!!!
*I'm trapped in here!
*What am I going to do?!
*It doesn't seem like there's any way for you to get in…
*I suppose I'm going to have to…
*…explore this place alone.
*This dark and scary place.
*Alone.

[You're strong] [I'll help you]

[Before you have a chance to answer, a bullet flies into the ground and explodes, knocking Kris sideways. On the battlements on top of the tower is a shadowy figure with a single glowing eye. The figure starts to shoot more bullets out of its eye, prompting a real-time bullet chase sequence. "The Chase" starts playing.]

[Kris is chased all the way back to the entrance to the thicket. More creepers block the path back in, preventing Kris from returning.]

NARRATOR:
*(There's no way back in.)
*(With nothing else to do, you close your eyes and begin to think of Ralsei…)

[The Delta Warriors walk into the Café. Sitting at the farthest table, hunched over an empty latte glass, is King. A Swatchling is standing next to him.]

KING: MORE COFFEE, SERVANT!!!
SUSIE: Huh?! What's HE doing out of his cell?!
RALSEI: Since it's the festival, I thought it might be nice to let King join in.
SUSIE: But the guy's a maniac! He'll try to kill us again!
RALSEI: Look, Susie. I know that King did some things that… weren't in our best interests. But underneath all his rage, even he has a caring side.
SUSIE: And how would you know that?!
RALSEI: Every day, I go to the dungeon to check on him. Make sure he isn't lonely. And sure, he likes to rant about how he could break himself out of there anytime he wants, and how even if he didn't, the Knight would thrash us anyway. But at the end of it, all he really wants to know is how Lancer's doing. He hopes that he'll visit him every day. He really loves him, you know.
SUSIE: Ugh, I guess, but-
RALSEI: The whole reason why King ended up like this was because he felt left out and left behind. Nobody played with him any more. That's just how things are in the Light World. But here in Castle Town, it doesn't have to be like that. Every Darkner should get a chance to be included and useful. I want to make sure of that.
SUSIE: Heh. For someone I've known for less than a week, you've really learned how to pull my heartstrings, haven't you?
RALSEI: You make me sound like I want to manipulate you-
SUSIE: Look, I'm not going to believe King's a good person unless I see it with my own eyes. But you know… If… If you guys hadn't given me a chance, I'd have ended up in the same place that he is. I'll allow it.

[Cut to Kris's room around midday. Kris is sprawled on the mattress, their hair messed up and eye exposed from too much tossing and turning. The pillows and duvet are lying on the floor, having been tossed there during Kris's restless sleep. Noelle is standing next to Kris's bed, placing a gentle hand on their shoulder to wake them up.]

NOELLE:
*Kris… Wake up…

[Weakly, Kris opens an eye.]

NOELLE:
*Kris, you look so pale. You've been sweating like a pig…
*I've been waiting at the festival for you all morning, Kris…

[Kris clenches their teeth and shoots out a hand, gripping Noelle by the arm. They start pulling themself off the bed, using Noelle's shoulder for support.]

*Ow! Be gentle, Kris!

[Kris staggers towards the bedroom door. A faint red tint appears on the screen.]

*Kris, you're not well…
*I think you should stay here…

[Kris ignores Noelle and continues to hazily stagger down the corridor towards the bathroom. The red haze grows ever more intense as they move. In the bathroom, they grasp hold of the toilet just in time to retch excruciatingly into the bowl. The screen fades to red as Kris collapses onto the floor, shuddering…]
