Elder Conservatorium Chorale: Magna Gloria

I originated this project, writing music, lyrics and book, and will be seeking to develop it further in New York, with a book writing collaborator. It follows the story of Maria Mozart, who as a child was the toast of Europe. She performed alongside her brother for royalty and aristocracy, receiving critical acclaim and large sums of money which funded a grand tour. But when Maria reached a ‘marrigeable age,’ it was deemed that she should no longer perform. So, in my musical, she is rescued by a time-travelling drag queen who convinces her to run away to Vienna to a secret underground gay club where the great countercultural minds of the time gather to experiment with new thoughts, fashion and music. There, Maria finds her drag persona and invents pop music two centuries ahead of her time. This song is what the drag queen sings to convince Maria to run away.

This is Maria Mozart's feminist awakening after she glimpses her future and wants to change it.

Where There Is Silence

After being inspired by Markus Zusak's The Book Thief, I penned a number of themes that I felt particularly resonated with how I experienced the novel. I then vowed to myself that should a movie adaption come about, I would compose the score.
Now it appears that a film of The Book Thief is forthcoming, and as such I feel it necessary to get my work out there. This piece is intended to be the main theme, played mostly whenever Liesel's obsession with books is portrayed, and also at other key moments.
