Manchmal berührt ein Klang auf eine Weise, die schön und traurig zugleich ist.

Verwickelt in ein intensives Gespräch während einer Friede FreuDe-Session, mit unzähligen Gedanken und vielen Fragen, sind wir auf der Suche nach Antworten auf den Philosophen und Mathematiker Alfred North Whitehead gestoßen. Er hatte genau das aufgegriffen, was uns beschäftigt hat. Seitdem widmen wir uns immer mal wieder seinen Gedanken und sind jedes Mal aufs Neue ergriffen - einfach weil sie so schön, so berührend und so tröstlich sind.

Er beschreibt das Leben nicht als starre Abfolge von Dingen,
sondern als ein Geflecht aus Momenten, die sich gegenseitig formen.
Und Schönheit entsteht, sagt er, nicht dort, wo alles glatt ist,
sondern wo das Unterschiedliche in Spannung miteinander schwingt.

Mit diesem Stück möchten wir ihm danken, dass er uns durch seine Gedanken immer wieder staunen lässt. „Harmony of Contrasts“ ist ein Begriff aus Whiteheads Prozessphilosophie. Unser Track fängt genau diesen Moment ein - ein Augenblick, in dem Gegensätze nicht gegeneinander kämpfen, sondern miteinander tanzen.

Some producers manage to make many different styles of music that tie together through a shared sense of mood. Suzanne Kraft is one of those. Actually a man named Diego Herrera from Los Angeles, Kraft has excelled at ambient, slow motion house and Balearic drones in recent times. Releasing on Rush Hour, Gerd Jansen’s Running Back and the excellent Melody as Truth, there have also been dalliances with disco and deep house across a number of EPs and two full lengths. As able to layer up proper synth ballads as he is programme loveably lazy drums, Kraft’s mix for us excels at both. 

It is subtly propulsive mix that starts sun kissed and horizontal and slowly arouses your senses. Colourful disco, watery synth tracks, groove driven house and the odd Chicago classic all fly by over the course of sixty minutes, and with that we have a perfect peak into the shiny musical world of this real sonic craftsman.
