Berlin-based techno duo Cassegrain has been making waves since they first appeared in 2010, most recently with the launch of their own label, Arcing Seas. For the young imprint's latest release, they enlisted the likes of Shifted and Peder Mannerfelt for a Cassegrain remix EP, but the biggest score of all was convincing rave and hardcore legend The Mover to come out of his self-imposed exile to rework "Trappist." The EP drops on April 28, but The Mover's brawny remix debuted on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.

Music must be free. Freedom in music is often suppressed by lack of, or by obstacles for creativity, which stops forward progression. The development that Fontän’s songs have gone through, reaching this EP is unexpected and surprising but still, the bodies and characters of the original songs are intact and recrafted with fingerspitzengefühle. From the core of Fontän’s psychedelic and dreamy music, the artists involved on this release have hit cuts and chips off like Cro-Magnon people creating specific tools. Tools with the power to blow holes open in the listeners mind. 
Fontän’s music has fascinated and captured a choosy audience for over a decade now, and many are those who have, or have wanted to remix their material. This time, in the shape of an ambitious 12” EP, various artists’ love for the band’s music shines brightly: The Covenanza Remixes  is released on Höga Nord Rekords and is strictly limited to 300 physical copies. The record comes out by reason of Fontän’s gig on Andrew Weatherall’s prestigious festival “Covenanza” in September this year (2017). 
Fontän have had the honour to be remixed by some of the most interesting names in electronic music: Red Axes, Timothy J. Fairplay, Khidja, Mythologen and Pardon Moi give their take on tracks from the duo’s latest release Fontän (Höga Nord Rekords, 2017). The music moves in the landscapes of Leftfield, Techno, House and New Wave.
The evolution of Fontän continues from the cold and barren landscapes of the Swedish west coast, through some of the deepest cave like studios in Europe, out on to the continental club scene.

JOHN TEJADA (@paletterecordings) carries a reputation as one of North America’s most prolific electronic music producers for good reasons: maintaining a steady stream of releases on iconic underground labels as diverse as 7th City, Plug Research, Tigersushi, Playhouse, Areal, Pokerflat Recordings or his own Palette imprint for more than two decades is one, the unabated high quality of his output another. Classic tunes such as “Timebomb”, “Mono On Mono”, “The End Of It All” or “Music For Doubles” prevail in Tejada’s coveted portfolio, indicating an artist seriously committed to his craft. A member of the Kompakt family since the 2011 full-length “Parabolas”, Tejada has continued to fill the crates of demanding selectors worldwide with two more Kompakt albums (2012’s “The Predicting Machine” and 2015’s “Signs Under Test”) and much-acclaimed EPs such as “Lakewood Drive” from 2016. Shadowy Dutch producer Yaleesa Hall returns on his Will & Ink imprint with yet more fascinating techo derivatives. We thought it was pretty hard to beat his last release (Zoe Hayley Laura) but WNK 013 certainly delivers the goods. From the Bristolian, low-end driven techno assault of "Daisy Wright" (featuring a truly ripsnorting bass!), it follows the slow burning, dystopian electro journey "Barbara Adams". The electro flavour continues on the flip, with some mental smacked-out breaks on the futurist journey "Harriet Brown" which comes with a rather experimental and IDM influenced VIP mix to even out the B side.

Two veteran miscreants of UK electronics have been drafted in by Dutch imprint Shipwrec for a 12” of techno debauchery. Cousins Rich Bevan & Josh Doherty, aka Posthuman have been addicted to acid from their first contact with the caustic and cruel chords of the TB303 back in the late 90's. Since then the pair have gone on to curate their own clubnight 'I Love Acid' for over ten years, as well as doling out a fair few toxic acid classics of their own. 
The duo deliver the soured goods once again, starting the audio anarchy with the ominously titled ”Netflix and Kill”. Drum patterns are gnarled and nasty in this slow burning jacker where basslines boil over into a thick syrup of late night revelry. The flip is taken over by the bullying sounds of ”The Damocles Syndicate". The track rumbles with venomous menace. Coils of 303 spite bulge and contract under the strict resolve of a stern beat in this ready made floor filler. Two helpings from two malevolent masters of the silver box - weird acid rave music for weird dancefloors.

There was a sweet sound which lingered in the pool hall, it was not the usual sound of Friday night violence and trouble from the boys but a bittersweet groove which poured through the speakers. One by one the players began to take note and decided to stop for a second. The green felt of each table was illuminated by the glow of a faint, dim light. It was as if they glowed a fluorescent green radiance set for the discotheque. The players moved into the centre of the room and listened carefully, it was time to move and dance. 

Sharif Laffrey knows the deal. A veteran producer with a penchant for house music of the highest quality, he returns once again with an extended cut of acid laden beats and breaks. All with a catchy sample.
