Dreamy Deep House mix I made in New York in 1998. I considered this my best mixtape for many years. About 50 copies were passed out altogether in New York, San Francisco, and L.A. Most of the tracks were acquired  during late night sessions at Satellite Records with Nikola Baytala. Early Guidance, Glasgow Underground, Freaks, and Wamdue Kids with a sprinkling of classics. I played this tape so much it would not play anymore. But the LEGEND Jim Hopkins was able to restore and remaster it. Eternally grateful to him.

This would be the earliest recording of myself that I have ever posted. This was recorded even before my Acid Junky tapes. I passed out about 50 of these in Los Angeles in the fall of 1993. The master did not survive but I had a 2nd generation dub that was in bad shape. The restoration that Jim Hopkins has done for it is absolutely remarkable!! It sounds so clean and nice and wonderful. Turn it up and take a trip back to 1993 Los Angeles.

"Edge of a Dream" 2020

Recently, my friend Alexey discovered he had an old mixtape of mine. It turned out to be the very first mixtape I ever released in 1992 as "Curious Josh". I was still in high school and had been DJing for only 1 year. He told me he inherited it from an Orange County promoters collection. Listening to it now... 3 decades later... brings back a lot of beautiful memories for me. I think some of my old school house music lover friends would appreciate this one as well. I looked through my tape collection and found the actual master but it does not play anymore. Which is why I'm so stoked on this find! Thank you Alexey!!! The first half is a nice smooth blend of acid house and techno. Very similar to my Acid Junky tapes. The second half is feel good house. My old friend Derek would have loved this side. The mixing gets pretty rough near the end of the tape but just keep in mind I had only been DJing for a year. I'm actually pretty proud of this mix. Recorded in Newport Beach sometime in 1992.

Longtime underground dance music DJ from Los Angeles since 1991. From his early days opening for Doc Martin at "Unlock the House" and his classic mixtape series "Acid Junky", to the 14 years he spent living in NYC shopping at such legendary shops as Sonic Groove, Dance Trax, and Satellite Records, to his move back to California and renaissance in 2010 with epic gigs at Sublevel (with Doc and DJ Pierre), Jack (with Brett Johnson and Psychemagik), Mount Analog's Nuit Noire (with Legowelt, Xosar, and D'Marc Cantu), as well as multiple Sunny Side Up's at the 5 Star Bar, and the Legendary MFD party at the Kohler St. Warehouse.  Currently residing in Colorado. Vinyl only.
