Kaarbanik Sound proudly welcomes the emerging London duo @tracesuk to the family for their debut release (and marking the second number on the dubplate series). On the A side, 'Scorched' is a clear statement of the duo’s style, and has received love from plenty of DJ's in the scene for the past year. Wobbly and rugged, with a combination of old school influences and a grimey edge, it's a tune to mash up the dance. On the flip side we find 'Illuminate', a previously unlisted dub of theirs which showcases a big variation in style and intensity. From high-flying flutes alongside a tough bassline to a seriously low and hefty second drop. This plate by Traces is not one to be missed... A strong debut by a duo to watch in 2019.

Traces - 'Scorched / Illuminate' (10" Ltd Dubplate)

Each pore on the face, gasping for air through a moor of perspiration. Skin suffocating, lungs heave and ho, entombed hands unbreaking, shoveling more coal into the fuming furnace. Sweat-logged hair keeps pacing over the collarbones, as to finally strangle that last rattle of breath. Heart rate is controlled, commanded and moved by bass and drum. Body’s rhythm and vibration has been challenged, natural existence no longer exists. Struggling for control, but losing a fixed game. Must escape this darkness.
 
A flicker of lightning in the distance followed by a paralyzing crack, reverb ringing out. Darkness slowly falls away as a sterile light emerges from the lightning dregs. Like a bad dream, stepping towards the light only to have it another step away.  Must embrace this darkness.
 
Kwizma gives Sub Pressure another masterful and hypnotic EP that borders on the edge of what is considered deep bass music,  encapsulating the mind’s eye with dark and dubious sounds, while keeping the dance floor moving with an aggressive pace.

Don @flokapokaa flips the track and gives it a new set of colours, while @mr_kbeats goes on the more aggressive tip. Another warning: the deadly melody will get stuck inside your head for ages...
