This kind of presence isn’t learned overnight. It comes from years in the booth, from listening more than talking, from trusting the dancefloor instead of trying to control it. A true DJ’s DJ. One of the most underrated selectors I know. Brooklyn forged, globally rooted, and operating on a different frequency.

I’ve known her for over a decade, long enough to understand that some DJs don’t need noise around their name to move a room. They just do the work. Quietly. Relentlessly. Correctly.

Japan born and NYC forged since 2006, Haruka has been steadily building something real through gigs, parties, mixes, live sets, collaborations, and years of showing up with intention. No shortcuts. No gimmicks. Just deep commitment to the craft.

She’s technical without being stiff. Emotional without being obvious. One moment you’re deep in electro, techno, house, disco, the next you’re pulled through hip hop or rock with a sense of narrative that only comes from deep listening and lived experience. This is selection as conversation, not performance.

The last time I caught her was at Body and Soul in Brooklyn, one of those rare rooms where the air gets heavy, the sweat becomes communal, and the energy locks in so tight you forget time exists. Those moments are earned. She owns them.

For this mix, Haruka opens the door to her ghetto tech universe. Raw, physical, playful, and unapologetic. Fast moving pressure, machine funk, and sweat soaked rhythms, threaded with breaks, juke, and electro, all locked together with her signature control and restraint. Reckless in spirit, disciplined in execution, and deeply rooted in dancefloor knowledge.

With long standing ties to spaces like Bossa Nova Civic Club, Nowadays, Elsewhere, Mood Ring, and legendary runs at BOUND and Fourth World, she has quietly staked her place as one of Brooklyn’s most versatile and seasoned selectors. Still somehow underrated. Still moving rooms harder than most.

This episode is about honoring a rare breed. A selector who plays from instinct, history, and trust in the dancefloor.
