This is an updated version of my very short track based on Julia Donaldson's poem.

The poem is taken from 'Crazy Mayonnaisy Mum', first published 2004 by Macmillan Children’s Books, an imprint of Macmillan Publishers International Limited. Text copyright © Julia Donaldson 2004

I opened a book and in I strode
Now nobody can find me.
I’ve left my chair, my house, my road,
My town and my world behind me.
I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring,
I’ve swallowed the magic potion.
I’ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king
And dived in a bottomless ocean.
I opened a book and made some friends.
I shared their tears and laughter
And followed their road with its bumps and bends
To the happily ever after.
I finished my book and out I came.
The cloak can no longer hide me.
My chair and my house are just the same,
But I have a book inside me.

I’m walking along with my spirits high,
Hoping it’s not too late,
To tell you how I really feel,

I`ve travelled this road many times before,
Thinking you’d be there for me,
However long I`d been away.

As I walk, my head is filled with doubts,
Unclear, uncertain as to what lies ahead for us,

I`ve back-packed along this dusty road, so many times,
But do I really know you as well as
Every twist and turn of this dusty road?

I am walking along with my head held not so high,
Thinking I may have left it far, far too late.
Dusty road, I`ve walked along you many a mile,
My aching feet leading me ever closer,
Show me the way dusty road

I’ll walk the pebbled path to her welcoming door,
Guide me through trepidation and fear,
To my precious lover`s heart.

As I walk, my head is filled with doubts,
Unclear, uncertain from your message, as to what lies ahead for us,

I`ve back-packed along this dusty road so many times,
But do I really know you as well as
Every twist and every turn of this dusty road?

Dusty road, I’ve left you behind, never to tread you again,
Pledging to stay with my love for ever,
If she will consent to have me.
She is now in my arms, away from that dusty road,
I`m safe knowing that she still loves me,
And trusts in me to stay forever.
