Welsh producer Harrison BDP is back on Phonica’s main label with the excellent ‘Easy Tiger EP’. It’s yet another impressively crafted 12” of his idiosyncratic take on House, Techno, Garage and beyond!

Once again, we were blown away with Harry’s grasp of producing a multitude of different electronic styles. The record launches with the melancholy-tinged Deep House/Garage crossover ‘Easy Tiger’ and its familiar vocal sample.

Having found a home on Amsterdam label PIV Dutchman Jesse Maas has recently been stretching his wings to cover more top labels. Having recently released his ‘Hit Me Up’ EP on Blind Vision Records the 12” subsequently sold out rather quickly. If you have had the chance to check out the groovy feel good banger then you will know exactly why. 

Jesse’s slick productions and keen selections are what propel him forward and once the world starts turning this will propel his name back onto the lips of bookers. With regards to Jesse’s deep leaning house jams we are happy to present an hours mix from the man himself.

001.. The beginning of a new adventure..

It may come as a surprise to some, that in 2014, Armada Music appears to be making its first foray into a chill compilation. After all, Armada tunes have been essential to countless chill-out compilations for over a decade. Ever since the Gabriel & Dresden Chill Mix of Motorcycle's 'As the Rush Comes' first took over the world, the record label has produced a constant string of tracks and remixes that have found their way to relaxing locations around the globe. And now, overflowing with talent and tunes, the time has come to give each special song a new home.

From the soul-wrenching instrumentation of Michael St. Laurent's 'All Gone', to Moe Turk's jazz-infused opener, to a couple of spaced-out beauties courtesy of Rodg, the only unifying factor in this compilation is exquisite, blissful calm. One of the breakaway tracks from the compilation comes from rising Parisian talent KRONO, who deliver a powerful hit with Amsterdam vocalist Cimo Fränkel - 'Sweet Goodbye' is already making waves, and it's a force to be reckoned with.

Familiar, yet bold and new, the tone of this double mix compilation is one of over-arching beauty and deep relaxation. Pooling together dozens of exceptional tracks spanning a wide tempo range, Armada Chill 001 presents the genre as it should be - effortless and powerful.

The second offering from Mud Trax, a division of MixCult Records is a compilation to remember.

With Dub Tech laid out in all its many forms and moods by a dynamic assortment of rhythms, it is nothing less than exquisitely fresh pop manipulative.The album features contributions from Kirill Matveev, Ataneus, Genning and Etzu Mahkayah. With an electrifying mix of dub's sprawling scope and acid's driving rhythm, even a record that pushes sound the way this one does can come off totally funky.

Kirill Matveev & Wiklauri's Ioli (Kirill's Version) makes for a promising opening, melding into deep dub its ethos of acid, a psychedelic blend that touches the nerves of those who love to dance. Ataneus takes it further on A2 with Napolitaner, a track that is like nothing else: dense, dub-coloured layers of sound, which create a steadily seductive momentum able to steal listeners away into temporal plunge.

On the other side, B1's Red Lights by Genning is at once a punchy piece and a dancefloor phalanx of sound. A work meticulously sculpted by the speakers, yet redolent with natural energy-Geistgemäss. The journey is brought to a close by Etzu Mahkayah's Cs-137 on B2, hypnotic grooves offering equal parts reflectivity and pumping energy.

Taken together these tracks provide an experience that is euphoric yet absorbing, each not only embodying Dub Tech but also pushing it in new directions.

Ijsbrand & Gert had always wanted to create balkan inspired music, and hence came the duo Stavroz. Beyond just sharing the same musical tastes, these two buddies bond over both being sound engineers (live for Ijs, studio for Gert), which makes them real "goldsmiths" behind each and every production (such can be seen in this short clip which presents their title 'The Ginning'). 
Their music is imprinted with original inspirations while keeping to a jazzy/burlesque influence, leaving little to be left displeased. The bridge, so it seems, borderlines between minimal and jazz-house.

The first title of the EP, 'The Ginning' is constructed around guitarist, Max Honckelinx. The track’s instrumental harmony is skilfully constructed by the duo as they borderline minimal and deep house.

The second original title of the EP, 'The Finishing' is merely a dialogue between a rhythmic stratospheric universe and the sax of Nathan Daems, well preserved from the first studio recording. The end result leaves us with 8 minutes of lyricism soaked in sophistication and technicality.

In regards to the remixes, Felkon, who has been presented several times before on the Délicieuse, takes on 'The Ginning' by including vocals which create a more dance-like ambiance. 
Britta Arnold, a legendary pioneer from Bar 25 and Katerholzig, worked on 'The Ginning' as well with Sascha Cawa. They delivered a version more obscure yet wickedly effective.

As for the remixes of 'The Finishing', Powel continues to captivate us while executing his deep and melancholic twists. He entirely redesigns the piece’s structure by retiring the "voice" of the sax. 
And then there’s our man, Viken Arman, who spins his version of 'The Finishing' by refiguring the rhythm pattern and adding a new dimension to the bass.
