Cold Winter

Raised in Garner, North Carolina on southern rock and blues music, Josh Pepper has had a guitar in his hands since he was 7 years old. After playing his first paid gig as a teenager, he continued to hone his skills both as a solo artist and with bands making a name for himself across the Raleigh scene. As a songwriter, Josh has an incredible talent for reawakening some of life's strongest moments.

In 2007, Josh's first born son was diagnosed with Fanconi Anemia, a rare bone marrow disorder that threatened to steal his son and upend his entire world. Josh temporarily stepped out of the spotlight of performing and recording to help his son get well, but he never stopped writing. For Josh, writing has always been his emotional release and at a point where his emotions were racing to their peak, it helped to be able to take a few minutes to let it out.

After his son's bone marrow transplant, Josh came back to his music full force. Josh says, "playing live is like the icing on the cake for a songwriter or a musician. It's what you work your whole life to do - interact with people. Art only becomes art when it passes through people." And with that philosophy and an arsenal of new music, Josh started booking shows and getting his songs back into the ears of his fans.

In 2015 Josh put his songwriting skills to the test by joining around 40,000 other applicants from around the world to enter the Song of the Year songwriting competition. After being judged by both record industry professionals and high level international songwriters, his song "Man We'll Never Be" received Semi-Finalist Honors - an extremely exciting honor for a first-time competitor.
