Podcast 005 - Lyo

Today we launch a mix series that has been in our heads for many years. What a better way to do so than with a friend who holds a special place in our hearts : International Mac.

Mac is a rare kind of DJ whose style never stopped to evolve and to explore, while always remaining true to himself. He is a touching, sensitive, generous, quirky soul who always pours his personality, his intelligence and his feelings into the music. Our existences are bound up to his, being at the core of a group of friends who welcomed us both in Berlin at pivotal moments of our lives. Since then, these people and this city have continually inspired us, helping us to find ourselves and thus, contributed to the very essence of tunnel.

The story behind this mix also has a full-circle feeling to it, as it came together in the most natural way, encapsulating a moment in time that holds significance for all of us. It was recorded spontaneously, in one take, last week-end in the infamous shared flat of Krausnickstraße. This happened after a session in which Mac played alone all day, while a few friends were sharing a nice time. His record bag was full of new finds from a recent dig in London as well as old re-discoveries from his own collection. His head and heart were charged with the emotions, the memories and the sonic impressions of his recent experiences, after a tumultuous year full of changes and personal growth. At the end of the day, when everybody left the room, we decided to start recording, feeling that something was about to happen…

Occasionally, Mac wears his signature purple velvet trousers and reveals the weirdo wizard facet of his personality. Here, Purple Mac is taking us on a journey : hypnotic, mysterious, emotional, slightly epic but also sometimes stuck in this stationary state of hypnosis. There is also a sense of madness and absurd that emanates throughout the trip. The atmosphere is sometimes contemplative, sometimes ecstatic, sometimes cheeky, others crazy, all of those moments balanced with a feeling of flow that translates a certain state of maturity…

From the timing in Mac’s personal life, to the moment in our friendships, and to the music selection itself, there is a mystical sense of evidence that runs behind this mix, which is probably what makes it such a special one for us.

Thanks to Mac for sharing a piece of himself in the shape of this hypnotic tunnel. We’re already obsessed by it and we hope you will be too!

For this eighth episode, Enfant Sauvage presents “Ecopoïese,” a sound experience that unfolds like an enchanted ritual, an organic walk through a vibrant, misty forest. Nymphs whisper secret paths, while mystical creatures watch over gently. A gentle, sylvan, initiatory journey.

To create this mix, she drew inspiration from the animated film “Nausicaä de la Vallée du Vent” which she sought to translate into music. A film that is close to her heart and which focuses on the beauty of nature, the living beings it shelters, and the deep sense of communion that binds them all together.

so, wrap yourself in a blanket and let yourself be carried by Enfant Sauvage’s journey.

ocultancia 08 ~ Enfant Sauvage présente "Ecopoïèse"

"IS AN INTRODUCTION NEEDED" opens the journey into my upcoming EP "Test Market: Pixanoswing vs Gqoza V1. 
This single focuses entirely on the Pixanoswing side of the project — the groove, the swing patterns, the melodic bounce and rhythmic pocket that define the style.

Pixanoswing in this track carries a darker melodic bounce, grounded in an Amapiano groove that drives the rhythm forward. It introduces the mood of the EP by blending atmosphere with movement — a sound that sets the tone before the heavier Gqoza direction arrives later in the project.

The two sub-genre's in this EP are sub-genre's I created and am pioneering myself. Pixanoswing is a sub-genre of Amapiano that blends the bounce and log-drum groove of Amapiano with influences from Afroswing, dark R&B, and elements of Gqom. It carries a darker melodic mood, smoother swing patterns, and a rhythmic pocket that feels emotional. 

Gqoza on the other hand is an emotional, more atmospheric branch of Gqom. It keeps the raw drum energy of Gqom but adds deeper textures, space, and mood — making it more expressive, cinematic, and feeling-driven.

IS AN INTRODUCTION NEEDED

Running Through My Mind is a reflection on the emotions that linger long after you try to set them aside. Thoughts that circle back no matter how far you run. Built around delicate bell tones, expressive piano phrases, and a yearning violin line, the track moves through A minor and D minor, giving it a bittersweet, introspective character.

As the piece unfolds, a surprising break in E major opens a moment of brightness, like a sudden breath of clarity before the emotions close in again. The outro dissolves through an ethereal F dim add9, gently resolving toward the warmth of C major and the open horizon of G.

It’s a journey through the feelings you can’t escape—haunting, honest, and quietly cinematic.
