Dirty Epic presents its eleventh episode of the Amplify Series podcasts, this time welcoming @truncate aboard.

After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's in Los Angeles, a teenage David Flores was hooked. He started DJing across Southern California on the DIY warehouse, backyard, desert, and rave circuit. His style then was as varied as the local scene - a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore. After a few years solely DJing, he began releasing original music under the monikers David F & Audio Injection, which landed him on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with Droid Behavior began in 2003 as resident at the now defunct yet infamous and internationally acclaimed Interface event series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. He currently runs a new event series together with Drumcell and Oktaform named “Observe”.

In early 2011, he started the project Truncate to focus on the deeper, raw side of techno. His Truncate releases early on gained critical acclaim from world class underground talent such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Eats Everything, Joris Voorn, and many more. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum including Kink, Slam, Loco Dice, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Ellen Alien, Miss Kittin, Carl Cox & Nicole Moudaber. He has also released original works on 50 Weapons, Ultramajic, Blueprint, Ei8ht, Figure and of course his own imprint Truncate. He has also collaborated with Jimmy Edgar, Chambray and most recently started a new project with Ben Sims as ‘Assailants’ which they’ve released on their own imprint ‘Obscurity Is Infinite’.

A rigorous international tour schedule has since followed, including stops and regular appearances at the most prestigious venues and events, including Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, Concrete in Paris, The Movement Festival in Detroit, Womb in Tokyo, Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Awakenings in Amsterdam, Output in New York, and many more.

With his heavy remix, production and touring schedule there is still no slowing down for David. He continues to shape an evolving sound and to champion the Los Angeles underground.

Ellen Allien, de son vrai nom Ellen Fraatz, née en 1968 à Berlin, est une DJ et productrice discographique allemande de techno et d'electro, à la tête du label BPitch Control. 
Née le 16 septembre 1968 à Berlin, elle passe un an à Londres où elle découvre l'acid house au club "Wag", en 1988. En 1989, elle rentre en contact avec l"U.F.O.", le premier house club de Berlin. Elle obtient son premier emploi en tant que DJ en 1991, dans le "Fischlabor", un des plus importants "Techno spot" de Berlin. Jouissant de cette première expérience qui lui fit un nom dans le milieu, Ellen Fraatz commence à partir de 1992 sa carrière de DJ en Allemagne (DJ résidente dans les clubs Bunker, Elektro, et Praxis dr. mccoy). Elle devient Ellen Allien, et joue dans un style Abstract techno. Elle anime "braincandy", une émission sur les musiques électroniques en 1994, sur Kiss FM (Allemagne) pour laquelle elle réalise des interviews et des retransmissions live des soirées techno du célèbre club Tresor à Berlin, appelées "project loveparade". Durant la même année elle devient DJ résidente à "dubmission", dans le club E-Werk, et sort son premier EP Just Let The Groove Go. En 1995 elle devient DJ résidente au Tresor.

Ellen Allien, whose real name is Ellen Fraatz, born in 1968 in Berlin, is a German DJ and record producer of techno and electro, at the head of the BPitch Control label.
Born September 16, 1968 in Berlin, she spent a year in London where she discovered acid house at the "Wag" club, in 1988. In 1989, she came into contact with the "U.F.O", the first house club in Berlin. She got her first job as a DJ in 1991, in the "Fischlabor", one of the most important "Techno spots" in Berlin. Enjoying this first experience which made her a name in the industry, Ellen Fraatz began in 1992 her career as a DJ in Germany (resident DJ in the clubs Bunker, Elektro, and Praxis dr. Mccoy). She becomes Ellen Allien, and performs in an Abstract techno style. She hosts "braincandy", a program on electronic music in 1994, on Kiss FM (Germany) for which she performs interviews and live broadcasts of techno evenings at the famous Tresor club in Berlin, called "project loveparade". During the same year she became resident DJ at "dubmission", in the E-Werk club, and released her first EP Just Let The Groove Go. In 1995 she became resident DJ at Tresor.
